Morning folks :frow

Gurtrude update: Gurtrude suffered a ruptured air sac. I was unable to reduce the resulting pneumothorax in time, and she passed away in my arms this afternoon. I am heartbroken. DD#4 is upset as well, but taking the loss better than I am. :hit:hit:hit:hit:hit

I'm so sorry about Gurtrude :hugs:hugs

Oh, Anansi!!! I am so, so sorry for your loss. Oh man, I read that and was like "Oh NO!!!!" and my hubby was like what's wrong and I told him all about you and your wonderful house chickens....don't even know what to say.

:hugs:hugs:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hugs:hugs

Aw sh*t, that sucks so bad honey, I am so very truly sorry.

Well. I had my first pp meltdown this morning. Thing 1 has been doing and getting into stuff he isn’t supposed to just to get attention. Well, this morning, I had put a sleeping Milk Drinker in his bassinet near the couch so I could fold some laundry. We are running the washer and dryer all the time because we just picked up a bunch of linens, clothes, and stuff when we cleaned out our old room in the farmhouse yesterday. I had a movie on for me and Thing 1 but he kept running back and forth trying to unfold laundry I just folded or put on hangers, and kept bumping into into the bassinet and jostling the Milk Drinker awake. At the point where Thing 1 knocked all my hung clothing in the floor, the Milk Drinker started crying for milkies and the washer and dryer were both making a hellacious noise, I really wanted to curl up in a ball on the floor and cry. Fortunately, DH was home, just in the bathroom. So I told Thing 1 to go bug Daddy and I put the laundry aside and nursed the Milk Drinker. I’m hoping these hormones level out soon.

That is a rough morning Rae. :hugs

Peanut is broody broke BUT is back to eating eggs.
:barnie

Anyone want a giant blue cochin that goes broody, is mean to chicks, rarely lays, eats eggs that others have laid and is more than willing to bite the hand that feeds her??

Didn't think so.
:barnie
Sounds like she'd fit in here just fine. LOL
Some of my first girls were rehomed to me for being bullies. I got another for the same reason.
They have done fine.

Maybe the change of scenery does the trick.

I may toss her mean arse in the big house.....where she wouldn't be the biggest bird.

The Brahma are nice but Rudy the BSL is another story. Between Rudy and Betty she just might learn a thing or three.

I am almost ready to cut that giant hole in the Bitty house for the nest box change.
Nerve racking to cut a big arse hole and have to get it within 1/16th of an inch. I will be using a jig saw for that hole cutting. I will be blind cutting to chase along the 2x4 framing.
The 2x4's are inside but I have to cut from outside.
:th

Maybe I can screw a board on the outside to act as a guide.......

Definitely use a board for a guide and take your time.

Rae, you're a great mom :hugs
