I'll survive, probably going to have a sore elbow all day.
Such jerks, wasn't even close to the nest. I knocked it down peeled the kids out and fed them to Kim.
Maybe they'll back off now that they've seen i'm a monster.:gig
Morning everyone.

Nunny my Derp girls play that silly puff up game too.
Rather ridiculous lol.

My zucchini and squash are producing well now. I picked this morning and was happy to see so many on the plants.

Hellz to the no!!

Those things HURT! :hugs

Not sure I mentioned it or not...
My son went back to work for the place I quit because it was horrible with bad management.

Yes he had worked there before. He went from a temporary to help with a move person to working up the ladder and becoming the purchasing agent.
His roll now is supposed to be purchasing agent with documentation responsibilities.
It has been a week. The entire week he has been stuck outside in the sun straightening the mess others have made.
Did I mention the building is less than 1/2 the size needed so many parts get stored outside in the weather?

Talk about disappointment. :(

Yes my oldest girl is growing a spur, a double spur at that, on only one leg.

I've been keeping an eye on it because at first it just looked like swelling. But it's a rock hard spur. Only at my place.
I have one br from 2016 that has spurs on both legs. She lays but never goes broody

Not so blind guy called this morning wanting to borrow$100 . He had ac and water heater go out and now he is over drawn at the bank. He thinks his son would lend him the money but he wants the money to pay his son. He gets ss about the first. So the son would put money in his account over the computer and I would deliver the cash. So the the son would have to come down to pick it up. Sounds like his is manipulating people for company or just goofy. I told him to tell the son that he would be borrowing money to pay him back. He didn't want to do that. I told him not to manipulate people and he got pissed and told me to forget about it. :wee:wee
I should have told him that as soon as I figured it out. I did say something before but it was put very nicely. He either didn't get it or ignored it

Good morning folks :frow

Good morning! I got stung on the elbow of all places by a red wasp!
Henny must have caused a country wide wasp riot! :D

Soooo, what finally pushed you over the edge at work?
So while I was on vaca my boss called me twice, tried to.. I didn't answer. That p*ssed me off. I never take real time off. She complained off and on for a few weeks before I left that I was leaving, then was all "what if something happens while you're gone?" and I told her to put an out of order sign on it. "What if a server goes down?" use a laptop & I'll deal with it when I get back. She kept giving me carp and I told her Ok, You take my kid to her dance competition (WHICH I PUT A TIME OFF REQUEST FOR IN FEBRUARY!!!) and I'll stay here. Then she gave me attitude saying she's already got a kid she's dealing with (He's my age & he lives w/ her b/c they're not comfortable w/ her living alone at this point). So the last week before I leave she gets worse. The director told her she'd be doing my notices while I'm going (3 days), plus a failed text report that comes out on Mondays, and daily failed email notices. This is not hard or complicated, but since she can't remember anything it makes it harder. She was mad they're making her do it and kept complaining to me. When am I supposed to have time to this?! I guess I'm doing your stuff while you're gone. [Huff] - Mind you, I did her stuff while she was gone for 2 whole weeks and never complained once. I have 8 weeks of vacation still... Apparently her opinion is that I shouldn't ever get to take off, unless I still come in to do my stuff b/c it interferes w/ her not doing her job. Mind you I've been waiting almost a year for her to order me ANYTHING. So things have been slowly boiling up. Then this past weekend she called on Saturday. To ask me about something (circ printer wouldn't print, but had printed earlier in the day) that I didn't care about that could have totally been taken care of today (and was, by me, b/c she couldn't figure it out). And when I told her what I did to fix it (copied the property folder over from another computer) she acted like I should have found another solution a different way b/c it didn't tell her why the problem happened. I don't care why. It's fixed and that's all that matters. I'm doing way more stuff than I should, combined with the fact that I am not paid nearly as much as I should be, with the fact that she won't do her job, but if I even speak to someone else she's running over to see why they're talking to me. I was talking to the director last monday (my first day back after my vaca) and he was telling me about something that'd changed w/ a project while I was gone and she hunted me down and shooed me out to do something that she had been told to do while I was gone, but didn't & then left it for me. It was creating an email address for a new employee.. she has done it before, but she can't remember anything so she let it sit til I got back. HR (who is also the asst dir) was not happy when I handed her the paper. This is all on top of me contacting the Union rep telling him I'm super underpaid and would like them to do something about it & him basically replying that everyone's underpaid and I should come to the union meetings if I wanted something to change. Um.. excuse me, but that's YOUR job. I'm already doing a job I'm not getting paid for. So yeah... I'm so done. I have 4 years before the little one graduates and I was going to stay til then, but at this point I'm ready to move on now. I'm hoping that I can put in my 2 weeks, and be able to walk out the door on my last day and watch as a delivery truck pulls up to drop of a couple dozen computers that won't get set up b/c I'm not there.

Oh and person STILL has not put a finger in that poor hen's butt that has laying issues!
They don't want to give her a heart attack...my flippin stars!
Like having your butt trying to pass an egg or shell 24/7 and not being able to is better?
I worry about people.:th
Oh wow.. I hope the chicken is ok.. if they're blocked too long they'll die from it. Can't someone convince them to take the poor thing to a vet?

It it a surreal day for me, nearly seems like a dream.
I have my first brand new vacuum cleaner, yep out of a sealed box not just new to me only took 23 years.
Iv'e been expecting it for a week but kept quiet, didn't want to jinx it lol!
Hubs of course got it free, it was a work award but whatever, old one literally caught on fire so i'm not knocking how he got it.
It is a hoover wind tunnel 2 rewind and i'm literally afraid to use it due to how freaking long it would take to get another if I kill it.:gig
Yay for a new vacuum! I felt the same way when I got my new vacuum. I cleaned the floors in each room repeatedly and reveled in the amount of cust and stuff it picked up. That's how you know you're an adult.. you get excited about a vacuum.

This was a flat wall.

View attachment 1849931
Now they have more room in the coop and more butt space in the nests.
View attachment 1849932
If Havoc hates them I will add a curtain.

Yes my back area is a bit of a disaster. When it cools off I will put it all away. :p
That looks amazing! Great job. You've got some major skills.

Best vacuumer is my son, when he comes to visit, he does the high spots I can't reach.
No I will NOT climb on a step stool and possibly break a hip, falling off. NOT worth the risk.
that's a lot of work and my vacuum hose would never reach. I put one of those swiffer duster thingies on the end of a dowel rod so I can reach up into corners, but I have to check for little spiders first.

Prince is male Rene, he's a suuuper soft ball shaped boy.
Seriously boy feels like a pantene commercial.:DView attachment 1850306 View attachment 1850307
Those are some beautiful birds.

I went out after dark. Bitty and the kids were snuggled in on the floor, as far from the new nest box as possible.
Super dramatic.

Really glad to read she will be ok. You are THE best pet parent. :hugs

:frow There were a few on the first thread. :p It was a feral little chicken. :lau He was caught.

We had such a good time there we stuck around. This is a chat thread full of great people. Always room for more too.
Jump right in we are a fun bunch of loonies.
That sounds like how mine acted after I put that window in. Like something was going to break in and kill them all. They all moved roosts and no one wanted to be by it. It had hardware wire framed w/ 1x2, all screwed in and siliconed around it. Nothing is getting in... but I'm sure they appreciated the cross breeze when it was 95 last weekend. (they've since adapted, I think).

I found my missing Tolbunt frizzle rooster, very pleased about that. He went off last night into the woods on the other side of the driveway. I couldn't find him anywhere . He showed up today down closer to the house.
So you're saying he won that game of hide and seek? Glad you found him. Hopefully he's learned his lesson.

The dogs share the rooms with their hoomans, DD#3 shares with DD#4, and for now, Luci. Ricardo, unfortunately, did not survive. We knew this was a distinct possibility, we were just hoping it would go better. Basically, she was a failure to thrive and we did all we could. Luci will not be alone, we will be picking up a silkie on Tuesday that is the same age as Luci, which will be 11 days at that point. We'll be able to choose a healthy and rambunctious little butt munch.
Sorry about your chick. Might want to make sure you clean everything really well before you bring home the new baby.

Thanks for the update.

I am really sorry she didn't make it.
I am also glad you are able to get a friend for her.

I think I figured out what kind of wasp I am dealing with.

https://www.enviropest.com/post/european-paper-wasps-confirmed-in-colorado

The nasty things I sprayed out of mid air this afternoon match their description to a T.
That thing looks horrible. I think we have those around here, or something like them. I hope you got them all now.

Good gawd I am up very early again. :barnie

Hubs was out on a call and came home missing a good amount of flesh from his arm. He got mangled trying to unhook a wrecked car.
Deep enough that that section on the tattoo is completely missing.:sick
Cleaned it up, applied Neosporin generously, gauze pads and that stretchy wrap.
I am hoping that is enough to stave off infection.

I see a store run in my future for more neo and gauze.

Chicky, reading up on them nasty wasps I will be checking and spraying EVERYTHING with small tube like holes too.
The web pages I read about them and where they live ALL warn about aggression and painful stings. :hmm I think I know that part at least.
Oh no! You can't catch a break, can you? I hope he's ok and everything heals well. Does he know how it happened so he can avoid it, or was it a freak accident?

I'll survive, probably going to have a sore elbow all day.
Such jerks, wasn't even close to the nest. I knocked it down peeled the kids out and fed them to Kim.

Wow, you are cold blooded. Hopefully you got them all. I think those little monsters are super fast a building those nests b/c they go from nothing to swarm in a matter of days. And this hot weather isn't helping.

Not sure I mentioned it or not...

Ugh... maybe suggest he keep looking for something better. Stepping stones. Use me as a cautionary tale of what happens to people who stay at a job that they'd be much better off to leave.

Wow, that's ballsy. My go to for people trying to borrow $$ is I'm sorry, but I don't have any extra cash right now. Totally the truth, but people like to guilt you into feeling sorry for them. Never loan $$ that you can't live w/o b/c you'll never see it again. His son is obviously loaning him the $, but he doesn't want his son to get upset when he doesn't pay him back, but he's ok w/ getting the $ from you instead.

They were a little dry, i'm guessing wasps are big on lotion and my ashy elbows pushed them over the edge.
I do know little Kim loves her some wasp babies. I cussed the whole time I fed her she just ate through it all.
Tried to give everybody wasp babies but you know.....derps.
The only other thing I can think of is your elbow must have been looking very shifty.
Very shifty indeed.

I forgot... got the EEG on my tiny human on Friday.. waited all weekend to see what's going on. The neurologist approved the results, but didn't post anything about the results. I'm waiting for her to call.

Thanks I like the nest box even if Bitty doesn't.
She put the kids on the roost last night. About time! They are bigger than her.

Yes those wasps are evil. No I don't think I got them all. I saw one this morning in the veggie patch.

My son definitely is looking for something better. I tried to warm him that nothing could have really changed there in 18 months.

Hubs arm looks ok (ish). At least not infected.
So as to how it happened....
He tows cars for a living. He was on a wrecked car call. During unloading at the impound lot the busted pieces shifted pinning his tow hook. When he got it pried loose a part came down catching his arm and in freeing his arm the only way he could he got tore up. Freak accident.
I am keeping it bandaged with sterile gauze and lots of Neosporin. He did let me clean it with betadine yesterday evening so that's good.
