It doesn't matter how expected a loss is, it's still sad.Always good when they are ok in the mornings.
I lost my light Brahma Jasmine overnight.
She had been having heart issues for quite some time. She was 5+ years old.
It's ok. I expected to lose her.

Do you feel like a new woman having gotten some decent sleep? The Milk Drinker slept through the night again. It was nice to have two nights of solid sleep!
We were planning to leave on Monday for a couple days at the beach before I have to head back to work on the 16th, but we decided to stay home, recover, clean the house and pack more leisurely for going to work. We can go on vacation another time.
I’ve also made a decision to really cut back on my chicken population. I’m going to rehome all but my broodies, EEs and Dark Cornish breeding stock. I’ll pick up on breeding the Cornish again next year. I think, moving forward, I’ll get leghorn pullets for eggs and just work on my Cornish.
It may have been expected but it is still hard.![]()
Are you going to be able to move the birds over to your property before winter or will you have to keep them in your dad's barn again?
So sorry for your loss! I agree, rule of 3 - we should be good for a while!I found a Deathlayer gone this morning. Was roosting last night and on the floor this morning.
So that’s 3 losses... no more in the group of Squatchers.
How long until you can take it home, 8 weeks old or is it longer for pups?Dang Nunny.
I am super sorry. I know you wanted to breed them too.
Peanut is off the best today so that is a positive.
I ordered toys, a collar, id tag and feed dish for River. If we get the one I want I will be thrilled! That tiny baby is already at less than 2 weeks old 1 pound 14 ounces.
Your flowers are beautiful! To clarify the 3 losses was amongst the group of us. Just 1 for me. I still have 3 deathlayers. Looks like 2 boys and a girl.
I will get more in the spring. As tempted as I am now I know it's not a good idea with winter coming.
Still have the Swedish Flowers!

I read that we're supposed to have a carp winter (but who really knows)... I'm not looking forward to it at all!
