We were hoping for that here too since it's been spring off and on for weeks, but now it looks like winter is making a fashionably late appearance.

This latest packing crate coop is for chickens that have been in the brooder way too long.

Cinders refused to even try to move with the brace on this morning. I took it off and her foot isn't going completely upside down now. Just her toes are not being lifted enough to clear so drag a bit.



Maybe I should make her one that can easily velcro on for night use. She is reasonably easy to handle so I could put it on by myself if I don't have to get wrap AND hold on place.

You could try a plastic bottom like chick shoes. I cool whip container lid or a plastic ice cream bucket lid. Trying to think of something with a lid big enough to fit a chicken foot on....

And no I'm not happy for snow. I'd be fine with frozen ground over the mud slog my yard currently is. But more snow just means it will melt and make more mud later.
