Bob what kind of terrain in inhospitable to tornadoes?? I would love know.
Mountainous, basically not flat.
Yup. I live in a Hollow (pronounced holler) between two sets of steep hills. Locals say they've never had a tornado in the hollow but they have seen them jump from ridge to ridge over the hollow.

I brought Robin out for a bit and s(he) attacked the food. Thing 1 was standing by and kept telling Robin to “Drink your cup of water”. I think Robin just ate too quickly yesterday and got something stuck. No more gaping like yesterday.

@Kiki

I am guessing they are to skittish to be able to put an A frame over them. :(

Kind of. I am making it from pallets but it will get real siding. Hubs doesn't want them living in a "shack".
I KNEW as soon as we had ducks he would lurve them too.

The house will be roughly 8'x6'8" with the size of pallets I have.
The front will be a bit over 6' tall and the low wall a bit over 4'. Single slant roof.

Ducks are messy. They splash water everywhere and the poo is very runny so they have some special considerations needed with housing. That and those webbed feet compact the bedding while chicken feet scratch through and fluff it.

I will definitely be posting pics of what I make for them.
Between being broody raised and in corners, yah no a frame

One is against the south side of the house and east side of a retaining wall, so some shelter

The other is the same in a roofless structure. So some protection on the sides the storm comes from
