Official Squatch Watchers

Robin and his/her two Fridays are out in the brooder. Friday 1 is walking very well with hobbles now even though one foot is still a little crumpled. I might give him a boot tomorrow if he does fine without the hobbles (the boots/hobbles combo was tripping him up before). Friday 2 is still in the process of finding his feet and only has one boot. If it were just him I would have kept them in the brooder a bit longer, but after having a very active chick in it for 3 days it needed to be cleaned for Sunday’s hatch. Two more Cornish eggs. They are both looking good! I have 19 due next weekend and then between 2 - 3 dozen the next weekend. With keets sprinkled in there as well. Oh and both my Cornish pens have fertility in the +90%!!!! :wee I’m so pleased with that because both my Cornish roosters have some leg problems. Apparently they are both getting the job done!

Babies are very happy about their new accommodations: more space, more dirt boxes, more places to perch. I will try to get a few updated pics tomorrow. The pants are really coming in on the cochins and it is adorable. Also, I am more convinced than ever that Hansel is an oops cockerel.

ETA: So far the babies are just confined to the coop. Not convinced the run is 100% baby bantam proof. Plus I want them to get settled and learn that the coop = home before I unleash them on the big wide world.
