Official Squatch Watchers

@CSAchook

Make a base mask out of some extra fabric, just the inside layer, don't finish the edges. Have him put it on inside out so the seams face you and add fabric to where you need it to make it fit properly. Sew new pieces on, then disassemble along the base seam lines, extending them through the new additions as needed. That should give you enough information to make the pattern pieces that you need. Don't forget to add seam allowances to the new pieces. If there are darts, you'll have to add paper and sketch the shape of the dart to create the new line in the pattern.

If you don't understand any of this cuz you don't do a ton of piecing patterns together or altering, feel free to :smack

I've done costumes for my kids that include creating stuff by using pieces from different patterns to make the garment, adding fabric and adjusting seam lines to make sure work. The process can be
:he:barnie, but the results are usually :clap, at least according to the kids.

@21hens-incharge I know you have tried lots of mask patterns. Is there one that you found particularly easy to resize or that is just larger overall? I am going to try making a couple masks for DH but he has a large head and a beard and likely won't fit a "one size fits all" standard pattern. Any help appreciated!

This one is the best fitting and depending on beard size should fit most mens faces. To fit my face I shortened the measurements from the top V to the inside dart tips.
It fit my hubs well and he has a beard.....but keeps it trimmed so it is not bushy.

I haven't had time to make this one but it would also be pretty easy to enlarge.

I think to get under a larger beard just make the lower arch taller.....if what I am saying makes sense.....

We found the elastic to be uncomfortable. I have gone to using one long tie.....hard to explain.....I am running one tie down through the left, up through the right, leave a loop under the bottom. Place the loop over the head so the loop is around the back of the neck, position mask, pull the tie ends to snug the mask and tie behind the head above the ears. Super adjustable and doesn't loose position. To remove just untie and slide mask up the ties....just a 2 finger pinch works well.

Yes they are in metric but a simple ruler with metric makes them easy to draw up.

I have one more that was OK but might fit a beard as well.
i will dig it up......

Edited... Looks like I didn't bookmark it. Basically like the above ones....cut on the fold but has just the nose dart and a dart for the chin.

They are doing well. I was a bit surprised that at last vet visit with Tilly she was a bit chunky. More time outside should fix that. She is mostly over her panic attacks when I step out of sight.

River....well she is gigantic! She is 8 months now and taller than Tilly. I think she is a bit lighter than her yet.
