Sorry to hear that. Recovery isn't always smooth sailing. But I never want to eat much with a bad headache either. Hoping tomorrow will be better. Do you have the address for the hospital? I couldn't find it.

They stopped tube feeding, to let her eat but they kept the tube in. If she doesn't start eating she'll go back to the tube. she still has the tube so they can give an oral med to prevent stroke.

I thought they had removed the tube for some reason. I am relieved that there is that option.

I am praying that today has her doing better.

Good morning!

Continued prayers for healing!

Apparently my mother's hen has 3 babies now. She has a 4th egg that looks viable and she is still sitting on it. Apparently my mom didn't mark the eggs right away so there is a little bit of a spread. She is getting off the nest, eating drinking, and getting right back on the egg and chuuck chuucking to the chicks until they get back under her. We'll probably move her outside to a chicken tractor this weekend.

Good evening folks. :frow

I don't know how to qualify today, but we'll say so so. Turns out that Sue has had multiple mini-strokes since Saturday (basically every headache was a stroke). That said, she was more awake and talkative today and in general had a good day. No matter how I tried, she barely ate anything. Her headaches are worse and she really doesn't want food. She ran a temp today so we're testing her for everything under the sun to see why.

A quiet weapon is a good thing to have. A good home defense weapon is also good to have no matter how quiet. I have three long guns in a rack by the door... A .308 for big/long range pests. A stoger 18" side by side for pests of all kinds close and not so far and a .22 for smaller closer pests.

I routinely carry a Kimber 1911 double stack, but also have a nice light weight smith 9mm. When I'm out deer hunting, I'll also carry a smith .44Mag 69M with four inch barrel. The 30-06 or 308 might just piss a bear off, but the .44 will do the job. I'd really like to get a .44Mag Winchester rifle. A friend loaned me one when I was a kid and it was an amazing rifle and incredibly accurate.
I am very sorry to hear about multiple mini-strokes with the headaches. She is lucky to have family able to be with her in these times. We are still praying for you both. 🙏
On the subject of the loud gun we have, we got it for the deterrence factor -- it is so loud that even if you miss you might scare them to death! But I find it to unpleasant to practice with it much. While there is an occasional bear seen in Prescott, it makes the news it is so rare. The number of skunks around here is unbelievable. I hate poison, & will not use it. I would much rather trap and shoot them (quietly). Now that we are better used to this new place I am installing electric wire fence in some strategic places and have portable netting for the new chickens.

I think the 3 other chicks got restless, so mama is now off the nest. the one remaining egg is pipped but hasn't hatched yet. I popped it into my lockdown bator to see if it will finish hatching. I'll put it with the rest of my chicks since it is unlikely that momma will accept it now.

Hey guys,

I just updated my flock rooster article. I wanted to account for my current flock status (moving talking about Molasses from present to past tense) and my change in thinking on rooster/rooster aggression. Can you guys look it over?

https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/selecting-good-flock-roosters.74719/

I saw a few knitpicky things... you "plan on having more children". Not that you have to announce you have more. Other little things in how things were phrased.
I had them all copied and was going to note them but apparently my clipboard didn't work. 🤦🏻‍♀️
