Owl scared my chickens at first. It kept hawks away until I forgot to move it. I was moving it every few days. I hadn't moved it for over a week when they came back to the yard. They ignore it now.Get a fake owl. Working well for us so far.

understand. It would seem that those of us who live out in the sticks are last to get returned to service.
Cell tower was down, I think. At least the data was very iffy. Some sites I could read but not write. I couldn't open emails
I'm Still working on storm damage
Now days I am on the same feeder as the hospital so I only lost power for 14 hrs, used to be days. Storm was Monday and people a mile away were still with out power yesterdayunderstand. It would seem that those of us who live out in the sticks are last to get returned to service.
Actually people in town are still without power toounderstand. It would seem that those of us who live out in the sticks are last to get returned to service.
But they’re so good! It’s worth looking for them.Isn't it something as ruthless as a hunting hawk is they want zero to do with an owl?
I'm still stumped about those mexican cokes at Sam's.
Iv'e asked a half dozen times about them, maybe more and either got a solid no or a 100 yard stare.
I stopped when I heard myself being called the coke lady, really not the greatest moniker to get tacked to oneself lol.![]()
That’s weird. I’ve been having similar trouble for about a week..

Geese bond with their “flock” and they protect that flock. A single goose/gander bonds with chickens if they are raised with them. If you raise a pair with the chickens, they bond with each other and ignore the chickens. Kinda like if you get a pair of sibling dogs they will bond with each other and be harder to train than a single puppy. The best deterrent to hawks I've found is crows. Turkeys sometimes work, but not too often and geese I'm told will work. Your average red tail is about 3.5 pounds but can take the head off an 8 pound bird using its dive. That said that 3 1/2 pound bird never wants to meet up with a 10 pound or larger bird that can fight back. I once saw a red tail make a dive for my pasture... it had already picked the chicken it was going for. I had four young toms who took flight to intercept the red tail. The hawk turned tail and ran. My turkeys have also killed a barred owl, but waited for her to return to the scene to eat the dead cockerel to do it. I have a friend who puts a single female goose out with his chickens and she goes stark raving mad at the sight of an aerial predator. But I still think that's kind of mean as she's not a chicken and misses her own kind. My friend says if she has a girl friend, they'll get to chatting and ignore the hawk and chickens. IDK, but his logic kind of makes sense.
