I just saw one of those. How many pounds of crumble does a 5# bucket hold?

A 5 gallon bucket holds about 25 pounds regardless of whether it is crumble, pellets or scratch.
At one point I had 42 chickens so I have 2 for scratch, 1 for oyster shell, and six for the pellets. I stack them in my sewing room so I cannot say if mice would chew on the buckets.

Lots of places to buy them. I got mine at home depot.
Amazon and U-line have food grade.

we are not short just vertically challenged
Does that make me horizontally challenged then?

Yeah, my short friends and sister (she's 5'1", the joke is I stole her 6 inches) say they have just as much trouble finding clothes. BUT yes, you guys can hem them.

Yeah, but I like my ankles and wrists to stay warm in the winter.

Yeah, that has to be annoying. However, my age and shoe size were the same for 4 years (9, 10, 11, 12). Thankfully they stopped growing after that. Now I have a hard time finding nice looking shoes in my size. When I wore heels (don't wear anything more than a kitten or a 1inch boot heel now, my feet can't take it) I literally used to go to the tranny/hooker shoe stores.
I was going to say with all the online stores and drag queens you should be able to get heals. 😂 My mom has lymphedema in both legs so her feet are generally swollen. When she needed dress shoes we looked for mens sized “women’s shoes”.

I can’t complain height wise either. 5’6” here. I too tend to be long legged but I got the long arms to match. Long sleeves never fit properly. I might own a handful of long sleeved shirts.

As far as feed goes I’ve been buying three 40 lb bags about every two weeks. Thats for the big birds. I get two bags of chick feed too. Now I’m almost out of chicks so I’ll probably be buying five bags of the same food at time. I like to be a bag ahead just in case. I store it in the bag in a metal trash can in the coop for feeding. And just in the garage till it’s time to go out to the coop unopened. Luckily the feed store is 15 min from my house so I usually stop when I’m doing my own grocery shopping.

Good morning folks :frow

The 5 gallon food grade buckets appear to stand up to the mice well.

Good morning Bob. :frow

Good morning everyone just waking up. :frow

I had thought about moving my buckets to the coop/outside but we et such cold temps in winter I worry they would crack.

Those gamma lids are NOT considered transferable from bucket to bucket and not exactly cheap to replace. I chickened out and just keep everything inside.

:frow Good morning Henny, have a great day. I use them to store all of my bulk food, but I do keep them indoors.

You have a good day too.
I am going to try my best. We are super smoky still here. We have a lot of ash falling from all the fires. It is hard to breathe outside. I worry about the birds but certainly cannot bring them into the house.

Thank you Sue!!!!! I love those tiny little rockets zipping about. 🤗
I could waste a lot of days just watching them.

I lost about 20 minutes yesterday watching a big fat bumble bee.

I love watching them as well, but the are so hard to get on video. It's not the greatest, but with them moving so fast and me being wobbly still 🤷

I'm so happy you like it 😊
