Good Morning 'watchers! Thanks for they rain, we got rain yesterday, and more this morning! After it was over, the chicks were rolling in the wet grass, and taking baths LOL. It was only 85 and they were celebrating! I wish I was patient enough to take good video of chicks & hummers. It takes a lot of waiting to get good shots!
:frow Good morning Parront, have a great day

Im rolling at squirrel proofing lol!
Around here thats like saying going out to brush the unicorn.
Good luck Henny.:)
Today I have big plans.
I need to fill in dog dug tiger traps so a trip to get dirt is in order. What they have done with the dirt they removed I cannot say.
I have power to the duck house so need to get the water set up sorted for winter. It must stay close enough to have a heater for the water dish reach.
Then there are my 3 low/empty garden boxes I want to fill up. All that good organic stuff has decomposed and chickens have dug soooooo much dirt out it is amazing.

Oh and then there is squirrel proofing needed on the strawberry bed. I saw that little thief munching away on a big red berry yesterday. Of course so did Rita. She gave chase but he kept the prize.

I know right!

The plan......wooden frames holding double layer chicken wire. Each side panel and the lid will be removable for tending and the chicken wire will still let bees in.

WILL IT WORK? No telling til I try. In years past even the crappy bird netting as helped but was a real PITA to deal with.

Sounds good, double layer chicken wire might actually have a chance against the goobers.:D

Oh, almost forgot Homer has a little bit of a wonky beak it isn't really bad right now and im hoping it stays like that.
Her lower is shorter and there is a little gap.
Hard to get decent pictures, she still flops out when I hold her.

So far it has not stopped her from shoveling in the food, has it? Looks almost like under-bite, or parrot beak.

Nooo lol, she eats just fine.
It looks like a mild parrot beak to me too, it isn't out of alignment at all just short.
Worse case scenario I keep a bowl of mash out for her alongside the dry food.
They're all eating mash now so no big adjustment.
