How does everyone clean their eggs? My quails love to lay in the sandbox so sand gets stuck on them. Sometimes a bit o’poo gets on one and I’m not sure how to clean it without washing it. Also, how long do eggs generally last? Unwashed and refrigerated.
I just wipe the eggs with a damp paper towel if needed.

Good morning folks :frow

Yup. It isn't so bad around here in WV, but when I mention to people I work with or old friends in the DMV (district, MD, VA) area that we raise animals for meat and do the slaughtering/butchering ourselves they usually turn a little green. LOL.
I get the same reactions... Sorry about the sunburn :hugs
I had a good day at the swap today. Sold all 4 bunnies and a bunch of chickens. And I didn't buy any live critters.
Good for you cappy.

For eating I wash right before use. If I get a poopy one.....I generally toss those.
I am not a hatcher so not much help with the hatching requirements.

I have noticed smaller eggs do not last as long on the counter as big eggs. My big chicken eggs are ok on the counter for about 3 weeks.
If for hatching I think you want to start them in the incubator sooner rather than later to have better hatch rates.

I hate to say it guys im starting to think Tucks sampled some of the neighborhood wild men, girl always was too sexy for her own good lol.
Little Jerry is growing up into an unusual looking kid in the truest sense of the word.
I'm pretty sure Jerry is a boy, but top half of is coming in brown and the bottom half black and the comb situation going on is really anybody's guess.
It looks like a straight comb started and decided to get creative half way through..
Very apparent it is time to zip the brooder top as well Jerry isn't all that fun to take to the bathroom in the morning.:)

Thank you both. These will be for eating and sold for eating as well. So, a damp paper towel won’t wash off the bloom layer?
