Official Squatch Watchers

With the high calcium content of my water I feel your pain. The spigot in the shower still isn’t quite right. It comes out ok but pulling the diverter to make it come out at the shower head is a pita. It doesn’t divert all the way. When I first moved in it didn’t work at all. Only came out at the shower head. Some serious muscle and a flat screwdriver broke it loose. I was going to replace it but how it’s connected is a weird pipe configuration of male to female to male again. And I of course can’t get the pieces off the old one to reuse. I soaked it in serious chemicals and got maybe 25% better.
Water softeners don’t really help with calcium either.

I’m without a car for the weekend. It’s at the shop for hopefully a simple fix. It started not wanting to start. Only the first start up of the day. Took 2-3 tries then was fine. Chalked it up to the cold but when it did when we hit 30 I had the battery tested. Came back as ”good, needs charged.” So alternator is next thing to test. It comes back fine. The battery is under warranty so they tell me if it keeps doing it come back they will replace it. I didn’t start my car for a whole day then the next 2 days it started no problem. I thought I was out of the woods. Nope! Goes back to not wanting to start. So I get the battery changed out. Still doing it. I call my mechanic for troubleshooting.
The odd part of it only doing it for first starts of the day is what is throwing everyone. If it were the starter you would think it would do it randomly. The battery saying it needs charged brought up a parasitic drain of some sort. But I’ve looked at everything that could cause that and found nothing. I also haven’t changed any habits. Last is the neutral safety switch. If the car doesn’t think it’s in park or neutral (even if it is) it won’t start.
Well yesterday it didn’t want to start for me and I wasn’t home. That was the end of it for me. I have way to many stops per night while working to risk that it randomly won’t start. Or refuse to start. (Had that happen with the car before this one. Had to leave it at work overnight and get it towed.) So I took the night off because sadly loosing that money was cheaper than if I had to tow it.
I’m a little worried I haven’t heard anything yet but I’m glad he was willing to try a few tests to figure out what’s wrong. He could have just charged me for a new starter only to find out that’s not what it is.

Oh man 😲 I'm sorry about your car 😞. I hope they get it fixed and its not expensive.

My 2008 plow truck has been like that. Dealer and my cousin couldn't find it. Cousin's neighbor has the same truck same problem. Eats batteries. I got a plug in solar trickle charger that keeps it charged up for 2 weeks in the summer... winter maybe a week if sunny.
I don't drive much
