Good morning everyone :frow

Good morning everyone. :frow

The dehydrated zucchini turned out ok. Not bad for a first try.
I did 2 trays with and 2 trays without lemon. None of them turned brown. Salt.....yeah next time no salt. All that shrinking made for overly salty chips.
The18 hours it is said to take is vastly shorter with my dehydrator.
I also did up a few apples. First try with those as well. Dehydration with those (also used lemon) certainly makes the flavor stronger. Maybe fruit fresh would be better next time....no added sour with that.
Good morning Henny :frow enjoy your day !
Good morning!
Another one of those mornings where the younger kids are just sitting in the coop.
I don't know what the deal is, maybe new feathers have them sluggish or maybe they're just lazy.
Honestly as much as they eat before bed lazy is very likely.
Moulting is definitely starting to be a thing out there, Lulu has started flogging in response to romantic advances and that's always a sign.
I woke up at 4:17 am to hubs trying to say the name of the audio book I had playing on YouTube... the Iliad.
I had no idea why he has to be so annoying, worse than any toddler on the face of the planet. :th
Good morning Chicky :frow enjoy your day !

Good morning folks :frow

I used to take tomatoes, onions, garlic and mince to a liquid in food processor. Separately grind up kale. Mix the 2 bowls and add flax seeds until a spreadable paste. Spread about a quarter inch thick on dehydrator sheets and score into crackers. Dry and break into crackers.
I don't have amounts, I just winged it.
:frow Good morning Mo, have a great day

Good morning everyone.
rjohns, maybe making salt water, and dipping them, or a spritz from a spray bottle, just before you dehydrate them, might work better. You'll have to experiment.

21hens, glad your Dh understood about the tool box.

It's me dehydrating😉. I will try a salt water spritz next time. That's a good idea to get a lighter coating.

I am glad he understood too. It's a lot of shoving to get the rest of my workshop needs into this smaller space.

You can always use the super salty ones in soups and stews.
That is what I do with anything that has suffered a heavy seasoning that I wasn't aiming for.
So soup day means something in there is probably turbo zesty, salty, hot etc. :p

Maybe if I hide them in lasagna.....

My family is WAY to picky about what they will eat.
In a zombie attack and scarcity of food they would surely starve. :hmm

I picked another 5+ pounds of green beans off my 14 plants and about 6 pounds of tomatoes. Taking a wee break then going to process the tomatoes and beans.

Oh man picky isn't an option here.
I'm the nicest person, but eat what I made or don't eat at all.
I take reasonable requests on holidays.:gig

Well you're right it absolutely does.
And you're being super smart trying to squirrel some back given the uncertainty of what this winter could bring.
I've been trying to get my hubs into squirrel mode too, failing miserably but I'm trying.
Pretty squirrely here sometimes! But, my guy is not into suqirrelin' either. When he does want to save stuff, it is old crap that I want to chuck!

Yup. He was going to take my squash and zucchini to work this morning and asked about he corn harvest and giving some to so and so.

I am sure if I hadn't processed the green beans those would have been on his donation list. He at least knows better than to mess with the tomatoes.

I didn't plant much variety this year because I planned to put a lot up for winter.

I let him know that giving away what I have worked hard to grow devalues me and my efforts.
I just got the first beans, wax beans, and they are being hoarded in the frig until I get more! Not sharing yet!

Between the prices going up and packages growing smaller and all the "Hey you know that produce you just ate from the store? Yeah we are recalling it for listeria." I prefer to give the squirrel thing a try.

Lol!!! I have one mode....go. My zucchini and squash have been hard won this year. I battled blossom end rot for weeks!

I had to come in. My hens have a mouse cornered and are making it scream. 😧🤮

I can't get to it to end it's torment.
Go Hens!!!
The "Go" mode is available for zucchini! I do not think it is even an option.:p Pretty much why I do not plant it! I am watching my yellow crooknecks like a hawk, any day now. If we do not get another thunderstorm dropping hail and 6" of water!
