We got our new truck Thurs evening. We finished the paperwork just a little before closing. It didn't leave much time for them to pair my phone into it, and go over all the features with me. Dh didn't stick around for that part. He grabbed the grands, and headed to the restaurant. They were hungry.

For whatever reason, they got my phone only partially paired, so I couldn't use it for phone calls, maps, etc. They rushed through the buttons and features too. After all, it was closing time.

This is our (my) first new truck in 22 years. I ordered it with every upgrade, and all the bells and whistles available. When they glossed over the features, one of the things they missed, was adjusting the outer mirrors. That was one of the first things I had to tackle on my own, before leaving the lot. It took awhile. There are 5 buttons that control various mirror adjustments, and the up, down, right, left button too.

10 minutes later I was on my way to the restaurant. With all the buttons, bells, and whistles, it was like learning to drive a spaceship. In addition, only half the tech (touchscreen settings) were customized.

I've since read up, and watched videos to get things customized, and stumbled into getting my phone paired into it correctly. Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

The next day, I took my daughter desk chair shopping. While we were out, and about, lightening struck next to our house. In the meantime, the same storm knocked out the power to 45,000 homes in this area. When they finally got our power restored, the hit by the house took out our router, meaning no internet, blew out a channel on the receiver, blew out a switch on our surveillance system, and wiped out the IP address on Dh's printer. They're coming Mon. to fix our internet. We have a tablet, that also has 5G through our cell phone provider, which is what I'm using now.

Congratulations on the new truck!

That lightening strike must have been a big one! I hope they get everything fixed up quickly.

Wow! What an eventful weekend! Yay! On the truck. Sorry! On the lightning strike.
They shouldve made sure you were okay with everything before letting you go, closing time or not. My standards are too high 🤣🤣

Congratulations on the truck . I dislike all those bells and whistles. To me Thier something I rarely use and first thing to break. The last truck I bought, 2008, the options I got were air conditioning, power windows and the biggy a snow plow lol

Sorry about the lightning, that stinks.
I need to check my surge protector strip plug . Sometimes they get hit and protect without knowing

We have both surge protectors, and lightening arrestors. They do help, and work in most instances, however, NOTHING stops a direct hit. Even the power company suffers outages when there is a direct hit on their equipment.

The more I read about my truck, the more I drive my truck, the more I get the settings customized for me, the more I love it. Especially all the froo froo. Of course with gas prices being what they are, I'm not doing any extra long trips. Tonight I tried out the adaptive headlighting. It's plain awesome.

Dh is suffering internet withdrawal. He may have a nervous breakdown, but he'll live. lol. He has now determined it's the main box, out on the road that got hit. Until that's fixed, we won't know the status of our connection box in the garage, or our router. They'll be here tomorrow, so he can just keep it together until then.
