Pigeon Talk

Thanks. I'm going to try and do like a figure of 8 type bandage around just the wing. I can't vet wrap it around her as she gets her feet under the bandage and get stuck! Poor little thing. How long did yours take to heal? I'm reckoning about 3-6 weeks?
Something like that. Mine was also a squeaker so I don't know if he would heal faster or not

They look lovely! Have you got a loft for them yet?

I've been debating ideas for them, and I think the best thing for me to do in the short-term is to move one group of my bantam cochins and give the pigeons their pen. I can move/mount the current cage in that pen, and be able to train them to fly in and out of it, while still being inside a secure run.

The section marked in yellow is where I'm thinking. Eventually, I wouldn't mind moving them upstairs in my workshop, and somehow figure out how to use the door marked in orange. This pic was during my 2 pen expansion for my Black Copper Marans and Cream Legbars. I may sell the BCMs and move the pigeons in their run, its the next one to the right of the yellow. I don't know! :barnie

I've gotta continue work on my loft. Getting tall fencing up for the emus took precedence, but that's done now, so the loft is my top priority.

Do you have a plan in mind?

Yep, I want it be something like five feet wide by eight feet long, and I want to be able to walk into it so it's gonna have to be six feet tall. And I'll also do an attached aviary so they can be outside but not get eaten by hawks or cats, lol. And I want it slightly elevated off the ground with a mesh floor for airflow and easy cleaning. Still trying to figure out how I want to do a floor that's both mesh and will support my weight when I walk in.

I remember seeing a video where the whole thing was elevated with mesh on the bottom. Actually I think it was just plastic netting, not even wire mesh. He had a bunch of planks running the length of the run. Had to watch where he stepped, but it seemed to work.
