Please help!!!

I know. Its so rubbish.. the con people out of their love for their pets for money.

True. It is quite normal for people to be attached to their animals. I am getting my German Shepherd Puppy this Sunday, and I definitely plan on getting him pet insurance, for that reason. Should something catastrophic happen to him and he could be saved, pet insurance would bear the brunt. He wasn't inexpensive to begin with. His mother is a German import and his father a Chezc import. Classic red and black with short hair and the parents having no hip or elbow problems, which the breed can have. But, I had an older Shepherd before, that ended up with hip cancer and had to be put to sleep. So, the idea of pet insurance now seems important this time around.

My dog got hit... well, he ran into a truck over the weekend. I could not afford a huge vet bill at this time. Luckily he just got a bump on the head and a little cut, and is healing fine. I wish pet insurance was available here.

As for the chick, I would guess that IF the pin punctures something, it will start pooping lots of blood and will be a bigger indication that it will need put down... if it comes to that! Otherwise, I sure hope it passes through easily.

How sharp was it?

Was is like one of these? Used for sewing and such?

I have read of grit grinding down a screw a chicken ate, so I think I would offer grit. I wouldn't put him down just yet. I would take the wait and see approach. Keep him hydrated and just watch for a while.

I think he may have a bit of blood in his poop
I wish he lives
Please pray for him if you do. I never get my prayers answered so it wont work
My luck is rubbish

If he was mine, I would ask here for suggestions on how to help him pass the pin. I have no advice on that, I'm sorry. But I could not pay that amount for a chicken surgery. I would have to just wait and see.

Just like me. Ans what of he is suffering and ill say tomorrow he is sick
Should i have the decency to put him down. I think he would want me too

:hugs
It is best to contact the vet to see if she does recommend that you offer grit. She may think it could cause the gizzard to become impacted or shut down - we just don't know - she saw what she saw and made her recommendations.

If the poop is starting to become bloody, then most likely the pin has punctured something.

As to your question of putting him down - It's fairly rare that I even recommend it so quickly, nor do I take it lightly. It's so very hard to put down anything that you love and care for - it's one of the hardest decisions in life that we all must face at some point in our lives. It's up to us as responsible caretakers to determine what is best for them. If he is suffering and in pain and after re-consulting the vet for more information, I'm sure you will make the right decision whether to wait and see or to have her put him down.
Okay thanks. I will email her or ring her.

Yes its like one of those pins. Im pretty sure.
There is spots of blood not too much in his poop.
His eyes closed and he wont sit down. As the pin is facing upwards. So i imagine he hurts. Bless the poor soul.

I dont know what the pin looked like. I do have an xray image.

I know. How much is pet insurance.
To be honest it does cost A LOT for l
Pets.
Checks injections medicine treatments surgeries if needed help and then there is the food and other costs.

@Spiderduck I will pray for him, I can see how much you love him. Its just a toss up I guess. I would definitely put him down if he appears to be suffering.

@RoosterCogburn7 I hear you on the pet insurance!! I have a Great Dane puppy and its a breed known for medical problems, unfortunately, I waited too long researching different insurance policies and in the meantime, he got a UTI, now the health insurance company wont pay for anything urinary related until he doesn't show any urinary symptoms for a year! Definitely, get that insurance asap! Don't wait. Post some pics of your new baby, Id love to see him!

@WVduckchick I'm so glad your pup is ok! I'm a true animal lover, I love all animals and hate hearing when they are hurting, Love to your pup.

Spiderduck, did the vet give you other options or discuss what else might happen?

@casportpony
Getting a pin or needle to pass on it's own without doing damage to the intestines due to all of the tight twists and turns it has to make will be almost impossible.
