Poll: do you feed pellets or crumble?

Hi! So I was reading some threads about problems with crumble and problems with pellet feed.

Personally, I think it depends on the brand.

Please vote and type what feed brand you use.

I use both depending on the flock. I prefer pellets because chickens do not waste as much but certain flocks will not eat pellets. I voted pellet because its my preference however I do not always get what I want due to stubborn chickens.

crumbles until theyre 'fully' mature .. ive had young birds choke and die on me from pellets .. twice this has happened to me, just cough a couple a times and keel over dead as a door-nail lol .. pellets are good though because theres less waste for mature birds ..

That is what I do too!

Seems like I have all ages around all the time. Easier this way for me. I use @aart feeder built out of a bucket and water jug. I get very little waste.

You really need to add an option for whole grain. That's what I feed.

I have added a whole grain option, thanks for bringing that to my attention!

I give my chicks starter mash until they are about 6 weeks. Crumble grower til 12 weeks. Then all flock pellets in the big coop. With 30+ birds pellets make a lot less mess. And I use all flock because I have roosters and younger hens that dont lay yet. Also offer oyster shell free choice and scratch a few times a week when I can sit with them in the evening as a bribe to come eat from my hand lol.

I feed crumble, but always ferment it. If I don't, it gets quite dusty and it just seems better when it's moist
