I canned 12 pints of Cherry Pie filling, 12 jelly jars of Cherry Jelly, and 4 1/2 jelly jars of Black Raspberry Jelly.
I think I'm finally done canning for the year....

I was digging up some of the grass that's invading the edges of the garden, just because it was a nice day and there won't be too many more days I want to play in the dirt. My weed digging/pulling muscles will be glad for some time off.

I found a missed onion in the onion row; it'll go into tomorrow's spaghetti sauce.
I missed some onions I planted in the middle of the tomatoes. They are growing rapidly now that the tomatoes are cleared out. I'm going to let them grow as long a I can before pulling.

I am going to concentrate on eating or giving away more of my canned goodies , so that I can reuse the jars and eat the food in prime condition. I also am running out of storage space for the jars as the new is added to old stock. I discovered and am enjoying some old marmalade I found from four years ago this morning on my toast. I have lots of old treasures that need to be used up while still good! My plum sauce is five years old and is just better than ever, like a fine wine vintage! How long quality last varies from product to product.

Good to know the old stuff is still good for you.
I have some Cherry BBQ sauce and some Plum sauce from a few years ago that I will need to use up in the near future.

The old peaches are starting to discolor so need to be taken care of ... brown peaches may go to the chickens. They are not spoiled, just discolored not appetizing.

On this note, any thoughts on how long hands are good for? I have strawberry, blackberry, blueberry and green grape jams from 2 or 3 years ago. I was questioning if I can keep eating them or if I should dump and repurposed the jars - would hate to waste all that jam though as there's a few gallons worth.
