Canned pickles with my daughter yesterday. When she got married last year, her husband had an autistic son also. We all have grown to love him dearly. One of His favorite things to eat (and he is PICKY) is my dill pickles. Makes me happy that I can brighten his day

Great looking pickles! I'll have to try making thick sliced dill pickles next time I have some big ones to work with. I'm accumulating another batch of smaller cukes now and have around 3 pint jars worth in the fridge. With the cool weather here cucumbers are growing really slowly, but I guess I could do some more dill green tomatoes.

The slices are on the chunky side for sure. My daughter sliced and stuffed (there are spears in the back 7 jars) As I was getting brine ready. Since she is a new canner I didn't say anything, so as not to discourage her.

Who knows they may be much better that way, it may be a happy accident! :D

I pickled all my cucumbers and green beans this morning. I added a teaspoon of black peppercorns to each quart along with the dill and mustard seeds. I think the chunk dill pickles will be good. Bite size pieces!

I didn't see an approved recipe for canning quarts of dilled green beans. The recipe I saw called for processing pints for 5 minutes. I processed the quart for 15 minutes and will keep it in the fridge. They'll probably be kind of soft, but that's ok with me.

Does your recipe have alum? For helping keep the green beans crisper.
