He's going to Kelly/Happy Chooks with one of the girls...I'm starting to regret this decision

CHeryl - you need to tell Kelly/Happy Chooks that she needs to keep us supplied with updated photos - it's a requirement !!

Sorry, my internet has been out all week.

I will certainly update with photo's. I'm looking forward to having these 2 babies.

My chicks have finally figured out what their roosts are for!

Last night when I went to put them to sleep a couple of the pullets had already gone inside their brooder and were perching on the roost bar inside. One was even already asleep! Maybe these chicks are smarter than your average bird, because all my others had no interest in the roosts AT ALL until I moved them to their adult coops.

I'm kind of worried now though because the other chicks who aren't roosting are sleeping directly underneath the others... and we all know what that leads to...

It leads to Jeremy bathing his Royal BBS Orps. I believe Lavender is the accepted scent!

I could really, really like those lemon cuckoo Orps. . . . .

Can you imagine me trying to give that mammoth of a blue cockerel a bath?

I'd be afraid he'd end up wanting to eat me!

I've never bathed a chicken before, but I've seen pictures of folks doing it. Some people say their birds have fallen asleep... I guess the closest thing to a bath was the time one of my Del pullets (hatchery stock) prolapsed when she first started laying. Everyday for like 2 weeks we had to "bathe" her rear end in a saline and warm water solution, then gently "massage" the prolapse back into place with preparation H... NOT a party, let me tell you that is for sure!

So lavender bubble bath sounds MUCH, MUCH more appealing.

"Gimpy" was one of my original 8 chickens... she was a very loved pet. Notice I say was. Gimpy also was an escape artist that could rival Harry Houdini himself. No matter WHAT I did she escaped from their run, always out and about in the yard. Or the neighbor's yard, or our driveway, or even down the street on the corner once (insert pun of choice here

) until one day Gimpy never came home...

I left her in the backyard one morning as I was leaving work, I figured there was no point in penning her up, she'd just be out again in a couple minutes. That night when I went to lock the girls up, she wasn't there. She never came home.

Totally off topic, I know.

BUT it leads me to my next point... I'll never have to worry about my BIG BUTT Orps flying over the fence and trying to make a get away, they already waddle as it is!
