She was gonna message you but can't because of your profile settings, lol. She said to go ahead and message her. She's @SilksterTN.
SHEW thought I'd never find this. I am not so savvy on this site. LOL
I do have BBS marans. My egg color is in he 4-5 range. I don't breed them to SOP just keep them because I love the color and the eggs of course.
I could start collecting if you are interested in eggs.

I saw those, but I'd like to find some fully naked stock. Unless... You know better than I do, which is likely. ;)

It's my understanding that the NN gene aslo increases the breast size. With a single marker you get the bibbed birds, double marker gets you fully naked. So would it stand to reason having fully naked girls would be the best option for muscle production? Does each "nn" marker increase muscle incrementally?

At best in the f1 I could only hatch bibbed birds, but if I start with bibbed, I'd have to take it another generation to get NN hybrids.

Or... Am I wrong and the "nn" only need to be presant to give increased muscle size regardless to single and double marker birds?

Am I making sense?

;)

I'll write you here shortly. :)

I've got 2 young boys that are sucking up my attention right now. 🥴 When people ask why I drink so much coffee I just assume they don't have kids.

I don't know about the muscle aspect, actually. I just know how the genetics behind the NN gene works - one copy for bowtie, two for fully naked. Researching it right now though I did find an article that stated in high growth rate broilers, one copy of Na did yield an increase in breast meat. I can't say though if two copies would increase it further.

Since all of those breeding birds are at least bowtied, 25% would hatch out homozygous for Na. Of course, 25% could also hatch out lacking the gene entirely...

where’s the trees, the snow and the lakes?
We have trees sometimes...
