I have good news after 6 days of not seeing my broody Speckled Sussex she showed up this morning. I have her set up in my coop with food and water and I guess I'll keep her in until I see she is over being broody. I just wish I could find her nest so I could get rid of those eggs.
I think I'll put a ball and chain on her leg to keep her from going over the fence. ;)

One of those messages where i would love to give two reactions: 😂 and 🧡!

No experience with chickens here, but i have read if you cut the flight feathers on one wing she won't be able to jump the fence anymore. No reason for ball & chain.

Now that the topic of angel-wing has brought up here. So far i have not experienced this condition here with any duckling, but on half of my Swedish ducklings their flight-feathers seem to grow into the wrong direction:

The feathers seem to grow outwards. The birds have no problems holding up their wings, just these feather stick out like the exhaust-pipes on a dragster. That's not angel wing, ist it?

All of them, on both wings?

Her wings are clipped and have been from the first time she went over.

That looks like it is the start of angel wing get a picture from behind.

Black Swedish Ducks:
  • One Duck on both wings, she really looks like a dragster
  • Second Duck only of her left wing, the right wing is normal
  • Third Duck has two normal wings
Blue Swedish Ducks:
  • One Duck has her feathers growing outward on her left wing
  • The other Duck has two normal wings
I have seen angel wing on a Pekin Duck, that poor boy was dragging his wings over the ground and it looks nowhere like that with my Smørrebrød Ducks…
None of the other ducknagers is showing any of those symptoms, with the White Layers being ruthless gluttons, devouring any cat-food they get their bills on alive! 😜
