Hillbilly, I need to send you a blurry picture of my hen Godiva. She's chocolate brown with a white bib. I've never seen anything like her. Not wild colored but pure chocolate. hope yours comes out that way.

I had the same thought, but Pyxis' answer explained it.Could they start because it was too warm when they were shipped?
Greeting to all. Hope it's a good Thursday for you!
So when are developing eggs most vulnerable to become cold or being shaken, based on your eggsperience, early on in their development or late?Three of them are developing, so I'm hoping those hatch, at least.
These were pretty far along when they were shipped. It isn't a case of a small blood ring, these were fairly well developed when they were shipped:

In contrast, one that's developing now and is about six days along:

I can only assume, you know with us mammals you know for sure who momma is, but for birbs you don't even know who laid the egg into the nest…What type are your black ducklings with the bib? I have a black one that doesn't have any spots in the bib that I am calling a half Black Swedish but I am not sure if that is what it is or not. The father is black with a white bib and is a call duck. I have never seen a brown one with a white bib either. You have beautiful ducks and I loved your water slide for the babies!!!
I didn't know that Black Swedish had a splash of black on their chest. My Call that I thought was a Black Swedish has a pure white chest and so does this duckling. I can't do pictures to show you. Thanks for the info.I can only assume, you know with us mammals you know for sure who momma is, but for birbs you don't even know who laid the egg into the nest…
I have three Black Swedish ducks, two ducks and one (unplanned) drake (Ralphie Dux). When i cleaned out the nest yesterday, there were a couple of black-ish eggs inside, the Black Swedish lay those. Ralphie is very protective of his ducks and chases away every other drake, he even takes on the three Monty Phyton drakes at once. So my assumption is that the four black/yellow ducklings are pure bred Black Swedish. The ducklings i had last year looked the same. The other two however - i have no clue…
That water slide is one of the remnants of the former owners. It laid dormant under the duck-house for years and then this year i had the idea to use it for the ducklings. Its the safest duckling bath other than a puddle that i have ever had. They can run in and out so easy that there is no worry about a drowned duckling. What type are your black ducklings with the bib? I never even knew there were slang names for them. My Ducks are the ones that told me the only good Coon is a Dead One! LOLThere are a lot of slang names for raccoons here in the U.S., my favorites are
Trash Panda, Dumpster Panda, Masked Bandit and Ring-Tailed Bandit. You'll find different slang words in every state…
Can't wait to see the blurry picture and guess how Godiva Duck might look like. Btw, i had a conversation with Buffzilla yesterday and asked her why her ducklings look so crisp and not blurry. Her only answer was »Wack?«.Hillbilly, I need to send you a blurry picture of my hen Godiva. She's chocolate brown with a white bib. I've never seen anything like her. Show standard Black Swedish ducks are entirely black, eggcept for their white bib and belly.I didn't know that Black Swedish had a splash of black on their chest.
