Sorry I did not know if you were a Daddy or Mommy to it. You can still get the mirror and stuffed animal if you do it soon and it will take a liking to it. If you want a house duck that will work out too I guess. It's just being a flock animal it will have adjusting to do and some people have great luck with doing that. I just happen to like mine outside as I have had my share of ducklings as old as 6 weeks in the house, lol.
My plan is to have the little one close with me overnight in a mini-brooder and during the day i will take it with outside me. In this way i will have a helper duck in the house and for the farm. The little one already learned how to use a vacuum, how to clean the duck's wateres and how to collect the eggs. Introduction to the two dragons was a mixed bag however. Violeta Duck immediately started to make momma-duck sounds, whereas the viking-dragon was ready to attack…
Anyways, i will make sure that Buffzillito will have as much contact to the flock as even possible and becomes a real duck. - Just a very friendly one…

I’d be worried if it falls into that water container it may drown.
You should have been worried about the water-container instead!
After mastering "standing on these legg-things" it tried "jumping with these leg-things" and flipped the water container over...
For now, i have added more water to the food, so its dual-purpose, food and drink.

So we had a big storm here and dh is out with the guy that keeps cows here chain sawing trees and fixing fencing.
I remember my first thunderstorm in Texas. I was scared to death and suddenly understood why you can park a European-Style Small-Car in the storm-drain openings on the streets.

And later, when i spoke with the locals about that enormous Storm, they looked confused.
And asked »you mean that little thundershower yesterday?«
:th
True, everything is bigger in Texas!

Good Luck all fellow Texans!

I had to do the Daily Duck Duty (DDD), so i decided to introduce the duckling to the flock and the flock to the duckling and took it with me outside.
Of course Karen Duck threw a tantrum, why her afternoon snack is late and wanted to quack with the manager, Snöre & Bröd the two Blue Swedish ducks insisted to be broody too, the ducknagers were peeping and quaxing loud (at least one female!) and Mr. PeaDuck also joined the concert. It was DEAFENING!

Little duckling got scared and made the first poop of its life: Slimy green poop that drew threads when dropping from my arm. :sick 😈

You have to deal with that little one, every day! The shenanigan Flock lives here and you will become part of it!

We both collected the duck-eggs and performed the daily duck-duty. Overwhelming! That world-thing is so HUGE and the duckling is so small…
Back inside it ate the first meal and drunk the first sip of water of its life and now it is napping time…
But after mastering standing on these leg-things we must try out that jumping with these leg-things…

If she can do all of that work her offspring will be very valuable. Put me on the list for one for sure!!!! LOL

Very cute whatever color.
May i ask why your feeding it veggie stuff? I'm pretty sure your supposed to provide grit if you feed indoor brooder ducklings anything but crumble.

No Veggie stuff! - That's ground up cat-food with water. 30% Protein for a duckling that is the skinniest duckling i have ever seen. It seems there was not enough yolk left in that egg to keep that duckling up for a single day. It is really hungry and eating well.
Waiting for the unavoidable stinky protein poop, though…

Edit: And after tomorrow there will be grits in that little tummy, i have to finish weeding my Zucchini plants and the little one will be with me outside, learning how to weed.
And hopefully eating the flies off my legs before they can bite...
