The membrane was much tighter before i applied Vaseline - or the duckling has shrunk.
More and more chips have fallen off and the little one is now only being held by the membrane, but still absorbing the yolk. Almost no blood is visible in the membrane, i think that's a good sign?
This is it at about two hours ago - it takes too long to upload those videos...
Sometimes those membranes are tough!
Once you can see there are no visable blood vessles you can widen that hole around the head area. Sometimes i even use a little pair of snub nose scissors so i don't end up having the membrane rip farther than i intend to. Usually once you've made it to where the head can easily pop out it can push itself the rest of the way out. Get yourself a little Tupperware bowl or cup ready with a clean paper towel in it in case it does come out with an open navel or a bit of unabsorbed yolk.

Happy Monday to Everybody!

No scissors, paper towel or Tupperware necessary any more here: At ~7:20 i've been woken up by a popping sound, followed by loud peeping. Peeked into the incubator and…

At the moment i am somewhat limited with my typing, the little one insists in being kept warm within my left hand, so excuse any typos.
Candled the other eggs and saw no signs of life in there - never have before anyways, so that leaves me with a lap duckling...
Still fluffing up, the little one and it has an interesting colour: Ever seen a gray duckling?

I hope that you can get it a mirror and stuffed animal so that it will be able to know it is not a human but a duckling instead. Otherwise you are going to be a full time Daddy to this little one. It sure is Precious!!!

Too late! - I have already been adopted as a full time duck-momma!
I have offered food and water to the little one, but all it wants is too sleep under my left hand. Only the left hand, the right hand is evil and wants to eat it…
