Received my new incubator today and am about to get 24 chicken eggs to put in it (as soon as DD gets home from work).

Might buy some Saxony duck eggs for the second incubator I ordered today.

the person asking for help is not the one who did it , it was her friends children, raising ducklins 6 weeks for a school or 4h project and then suposed to give them to her, she just found out about the bubble baths

Still, if i would engage in this thread i could not keep my mouth half shut and just mumble my opinion into my non existing beard…

We're upgrading an old garage into a safe storage room for grains etc and so I went looking around for a large hammer when it was already dark. I visited the greenhouse and... apparently forgot to close the door.

(You can already sense where this is going.)

In the morning I heard the happy grunting/chortling that the ducks make when they have found some good stuff, and I thought how nice, the spring is really here, they got some bugs - slugs - worms, good for them.

Then I visited the greenhouse

What would have been a month's supply of lettuce is no more. Well some of it might regrow since it's of the type where you pull the individual leaves off instead of cutting off the head. But it was not a happy surprise. Still, it's my own fault, well played the ducks

Well, the dux did you a favor: Salad is really unhealthy for us humons!
According to my dux Salad contains way to many Vitamins to be safely consumed by humons. We should refrain from eating greens at all and limit ourselves to eat the concentrated food that the dux produce for us, aka eggs.

I once thought "you don't have to fence in the potato patch. The dux won't eat them, they know potatoes taste bad and will give them belly-pain… Unfortunately nobody ever explained the dux the difference between tomato and potato. And their belies never hurt…

Fortunately salad grows really fast. And the soil is now very well fertilized.

These eggs are 'testers'. 24 barnyard mix chickens which will most probably either be sold or kept as food. I just ordered myself some purebred Brahma and Chantecler. And more OEGB since I only have the one older hen left after the fox incident. I'll be phasing out the mixes.

Unsure about the ducks. The Muscovy, no problem, but the domestics, well... We shall see. Too many pretty breeds out there!

I have ordered 25 and 27 arrived. I wasn't aware that they multiply that fast!
And they came with a nice set of instructions:

I tried to take a nap around noon today, last night the power went out and the backup generator is located close to the bedroom-window…
Then somebody woke me up, knocking at the door.
I walked towards the front-door - nobody there.
Walked to the patio-door - nobody there too.
Confused, thinking that i am hallucinating i turned around to go back to the bedroom...
Another knock, clearly from the patio-door. But nobody is standing in front of the door!
Except...
