i know this is duxland & i have a dozen dux to brag about but i want to continue to talk about also my Trudy Goose and her eggs… because apparently she didn’t see the 6 egg limit documentary View attachment 3786509
Don't worry too much about duxland, a goose is nothing more than an oversized dux! 🤣 Goose have bills like dux and no beaks and as dux they like to splash in the water.
Do i count correct? - Eight (8!!) eggs?

According to @Magnolia Ducks the drakes say "vent, vent, vent…" all day long, referring to their favorite part of the female duck's body.
I'm not so sure about that…
First they seem not to repeat the same word over and over again, but rasp very accordingly to the actual situation:
  • Their attached female duck(s) are foraging and there is no threat insight: A gentle, calming "rasp, rasp, raaaasssp" - as if to inform the ladies that they are safe
  • Something suspicious appears in the sky: Sudden silence, drake is observing, ducks stop foraging looking at "their" drake and observing the sky themselves.
  • Another drake dares to approach: Bursts of short rasps, getting louder and louder with every "rasp", in the end both drakes standing chest to chest and whoever can rasp louder and/or(?) faster wins.
  • HillBilly comes outside: Everydrake starts ton rasp as loud and as fast as they can to alert the ducks. - Cat-food is in reach!
You forgot the deep *whoomph* sound they make in their chests. Like a fart. :lau

Yeah, this is it! All day long. Very calming. Probably for the ladies as well.
Since we're both in IT let's say that the drake keeps sending out a ping to demonstrate the connection is OK :)

As demonstrated above, the common Muscovy dux' strong telepathic abilities make her victims believe they are in control, when i fact they have long been overwhelmed by the incredible dux power.
Muscovy dux are breathing, walking and pooping incubators!
Actually that would be my two Mallard Mommas that fit that description. My one Muscovy tried once to go broody last year but I was able to break her and the other one has never tried. One is two now and the other one is three. I have had both since they were young, one 3 days old and the other 3 months old. My Mallard Mommas will fine eggs anywhere and start to sit on them. I have one right now that is sitting but I don't think any of the eggs are fertile and she is a real mess if you bother her after hiding this nest so well. I am letting her go because I don't see any hope in what she is sitting on. When I eat the eggs they don't seem to be fertile.

My ducks are so funny, when I am out with them I can look up at the sky and they will all stop what they are doing and look up! I was surprised to see them do that the first time I tried it. They figured if I looked up there must be something they need to know about. Such little smarties!

Mine get nervous about planes
