It's what ever works for you. I caught one the very first night with my Marshmellows and hot dog and the next night got the other one. Haven't had any more problems, knock on wood. I hope that you get yours too. I also bought a brand new trap off of Amazon and I think that helped too.
I caught the problem Panda last night. - The one that attacked the runner duck. He has plenty of experience with these life-traps, trying to trigger the door before going inside and lick out the peanut butter-cup. I saw him reaching for the trigger plate from the outside of the trap on several occasions, so i needed to boost his confidence by leaving the trap unarmed for some nights. Yesterday evening the trap was configured to be active and i got him, finally.

When my little Call Duckling female had this problem I kept holding her and soaking her bottom in warm water. Finally one time after I was gently picking near her vent a large piece of poop came out and when I put her in the water a big poop exploded out of her. She was just fine after that and started growing normally and eating better. Now she is bigger than her mate and does just fine so I was lucky that she was finally able to expel it. Good luck with your little one Frank.
I used dishwasher soapy water to flatten the fluff on Monday evening and wasn't able to find the vent, so i concluded that there isn't one and made an appointment with the vet. Also that duckling did not pooped when set down into water - which seems to be a reflex for ducklings. Dr. Patton told me without the X-ray they had given up on the little one as well, the intestine was pushed so hard against the vent from the inside that the vent was flattened out. They had to open it with a catheter to release what was inside... :sick
