Not sure what you call then there, but maybe carrying a pocket knife instead? Or a pitch fork. From someone that hates the thought of stabbing anything, I don't like the idea of you unarmed. I will force myself not to leave the vicinity of the house without my freshly sharpened machete - or as you would say »That's a knoife!«
I just don't feel comfortable having to hold that thing in my hand, but maybe there is something like a holster available. Have to look around…
