Just to figure out the size of the "Woodies": Is the duck in the center a Mallard or a Rouen?
The three ducks closest in the picture are 2 big Rouens and a huge Blue Swedish Hen. The little ones behind them are my Pastel colored Call ducks from Metzer Farms. They are more the size of my Calls and Black East Indies Ducks as the rest are all bigger than they are. They are very lightweight also when I held the female, I could hardly tell she was in my hand.

Maybe they are , I know we have them too. We have eagles, (some pretty huge) peregrine Hawks (small ), red tail hawks (aka chicken hawks) Cooper’s hawks (small ones) and turkey vultures , that I have seen I think there’s another kind or more out there, but I haven’t exactly identified them yet

We have them in neighboring ponds now as they are making a come back.

Oh Noooo!

I just got an e-mail from Metzer Farms, they have a new runner variety, »Silver Runner«

Sunny Sunshine's family from last year almost looks like these! - Except for the dark bill.

So they are in between mallards and call-ducks.

I could not get my message to come in from Metzer that I got. Do you know how much the sexed female Muscovy are now? I was just curious. I know that was something new for them too, to be able to sell sexed Muscovy ducklings. Thanks

I was changing the ducks from the dirty coop to the clean one and lost a pekin. My coops are horse stalls so right next to each other. It was the first time the ducklings had been out so i had to use the broom of death. There are 17 of them so lots of scurrying around was had. I thought I had them all but headcount was just 16. I looked and looked but didn't find her anywhere. I decided Wile must of heard all the noise and got her. So the next day there she was having survived a night out in the woods by herself. Opened the coop door and she ran again into the woods. A 2 hour hunt ensued. Gave up again. Went to check after dark and there she was again trying to get through the wall of the barn. Tired cold hungry and thirsty. I finally got her in. Never had one survive two days in the wild alone.

So glad to hear the happy ending to this. She was one lucky ducky and I think she must have had a guardian angel looking after her.
