brought the youngest out of the brooder to pasture today.
Is there a recommended way to bring young chicks from inside to outside in cooler temps? They are off the heat, but it's still a good 20f difference during the day. Im getting a little tired of the Legbar flying on my computer... and ya know, if they can fly there, they can poop there. :rant

It averages 70-75 inside right now.
Here's our outside temps if it helps any.

Soak at least 10 mins you can do it 1x a day. You can find clear iodine at CVS and Walmart or other pharmacy. You want to make sure the scab is ready to come off so you don’t pull and healthy skin tears. Once you get the scab off hopefully you can pull the plug of infection out. Once plug is out you pack with antibiotic ointment and wrap to keep his foot clean till healed. He has some serious infection so you don’t want to put this off. I would rather go about it this way than cut. I have had to do both.
You're a Saint Patti. Ads I was reading that part, I got to wondering how many people's ducks you've helped, or even outright saved their life. Thank you for sharing you knowledge with us. :hugs

You too Bob! You've taught me quite a bit, and never seem to get tired of my questions. :highfive:

The council changed the bylaws, being local laws - I don't know if you have those there. I'm not sure whether there were many complaints, but keeping poultry in town is becoming more popular, and someone saw fit to limit it.
Well that stinks. I've only had one person here complain, but it was more of a passive aggressive comment. "Well you know your not supposed to have roosters here. Someone could turn you in to animal control." He was pretty smug about it, so I educated him about us being on county land, and having different rules than the city, and offered him some eggs to break the tension.

The person who actually talked me in to keeping birds is a sheriff's deputy who lives in our neighborhood, and raises chickens. She helped point me in the right direction in regards to the laws. I suggested the smug fella go talk to her if he wanted to file a complaint. ;)
