Why are you rehoming Umbra? such an unusual breed.

I think it's the best for the flock dynamic, and plans going forward. He's a bit to dominant to be in second place, and I see big problems down the road.

He's got a bit of red hidden in waddle too, so his value as a breeder is squat as far as I'm concerned. I could breed him, work on color correction, and he might be a good starting point, but that's not what I want to do.

He's not really aggressive, but he is very dominant. He doesn't start fights but he also doesn't run from them. Things have improved after working on my roo husbandry, but not that much.

He's not bad, but he's not a good fit I guess.

I suspect they are talking about toughness. The older the bird when harvested the tougher they'll be. So it's a trade off for flavor, toughness or tenderness and size.

No.
They both got fowl pox, but one got a bad internal case and after fighting it for around 8 weeks he died.

Nibbler was rehomed to a small family farm in need of anew boy.

Sully did not like Nibbler and one day he caught him and gave him a whoopin. After that he pretty much had to live with the bantams because he was terrified of Sully. I'd open the shack door and Nibbler would just jet over the fence. He's the only boy at his current home though.

To be honest, the most annoying crower here are the Seramas. It's a very shrill sound that travels well.

Umbra sounds like a dinosaur with a very low grumbling sound.

Sully has what I'd call a traditional crow, very full bodied sound.

Ollie crowed yesterday while I was sitting 6 inches away. I about wet my pants it was so loud. I think he ate a dinosaur who ate a megaphone. It was low toned, full bodied, and very in your face. Well my face...
