Love to hear your traditions @007Sean , when a loved one passes away do you cut one side short all the way to the scalp, or just a few inches off one side?
Really beautiful.

@Trimurtisan it's only considered a mistake if you do it repeatedly...the turkey was just a learning experience 😁 Now you can try your hand at some geese!! 🤭🥰

Morning friends!! Waiting around to see if we're getting any winter precipitation or not...doesn't sound like it will be much, just a glaze of ice. And...to make things even more fun today, my 8 yr old son Cullin has been battling a cold for a couple days, and at about 5am he woke me up complaining of his ear 😬 So...we may have to make a trip to Urgent Care today for an ear infection. Always something when you have kiddos...
I have actually looked in to geese, but I think Patti is right on that one. ;) I think the turkey would have worked out better had we had more property for them to roam. That's actually my biggest problem with them is they like to roam. Thanksgiving day they where in my neighbors yard, on the next block over.
That stinks your little man is not feeling well. Hopefully he gets to felling better here soon. Ear infections are no fun. Before Xaiden got his tubes he had a very bad hearing problem, and always in pain. It's been an amazing turn around ever since get got them.

Somehow my son got lucky to not get my ears....when I was a kid it was constant until I got tubes. But back then you didn't have to meet the crazy requirements for tubes and tonsils as they have now.

That's crazy they roam so far 😂 I'm sure your neighbors thought you were just being nice and delivering their dinner for them! 🤣

I saw him the next day and he had made a meme. It was my turkeys and it said "Hun, grab my bird shot."

It took about 6 months of constant ear aches and urgent care visits before he could get his tubes. It was a very frustrating time for us, but especially for him.

My turkeys never leave my yard. .. but I live in the country and have quite a bit of land,

Instead of getting rid of all your turkeys just invite the Toms to dinner.....and keep the girls.

@memphis has a nunnery, lives in the city and her turkeys are not wanders, other than jumping a fence into a next door neighbors by accident and making a fuss because they can’t find their way home.

The girls are not explorers and are sweet compared to the boys...

Now the suggestion you try geese ,,

I had geese for almost three months..... it was not pretty.... I felt sorry for a little girl selling guess from Craigslist along with Guineas...

I met her and her Dad in a Walmart parking lot to get the Guineas..her Dad stayed in the car....

She sold me the Guineas and in typical bait and switch style...the little hustler showed me the geese and started crying because her Dad would not let her keep any and she would have to kill them.....

I did not realize I was being scammed until the cute little goslings were 5 days old and turned into monsters..

I wrote a whole thread about them... they are worse than delinquent guinea!!!
