That seems to be the general conscience. For what they offer you'd be paying ~$1.5k+ for a similar custom piece. I'm shopping for a full frame 45 and it's a toss up between Rock Island 1911, CZ 75B, or Springfield XD. I already have a Springfield XDe to carry and absolutely love it. I want something bigger though.
Hubs has a Springfield he carries and likes it a lot. The perk with the 1911s is you can start with Rock Island and switch out parts as you go if you want.

Now my son probably has something in a Rock Island he’s a collector. I should have said a Henry long gun. I’ve yet to fire it we have to go up the mountain so we don’t give our animals heart failure.
LMAO 😂🤣 This reminds me of the post you suggested to someone to shoot off a shotgun to get the ducks off the pond 😂🤣 I almost wet my pants on that one!!

I did see that...there's rumors floating around that all of SWVA may secede...probably won't get to that point though.
Our county did pass the 2A sanctuary right around Christmas though. Huge turn outs for those board meetings!

They've already passed their gun control legislation through the Virginia house, so people around here are going pretty nuts prepping for unrest.

Ugh...I hate you @rjohns39. 😘😍 Last year's Christmas present for me was a 1911, and I looooved the Kimber Tactical 1911...but that was not in the budget!!
Ended up getting the Sig 1911 XO..would recommend it to anyone!!

I personally am a Springfield fan. Anytime I'm window shopping that who I look at first. I would like to get a Springfield 1911. To go along with what you said, I think it would be a better base to start on. The RIA though has a lot of options standard, but it also has injection molded pieces inside too... I don't know...

I also have a Ruger 22lr pistol that's fun/convenient and an old S&W 9mm beater. The S&W was my first legal pistol and has actually turned into a project piece of sorts. Teach myself how to work on (14 years old, things are breaking) and customize handguns using its platform.
