Good morning Trim. Sorry to chat on your thread. Hope you don't mind.
Me mind? Never!
So what kind of geese do you have? Geese and turkeys are 2 I'll be holding out on.

Although when I picked up the bantam mix family, I did meet a super cool turkey. Thomas was a 5 year old male who had imprinted on his owner, and was super social.

When we got there, we where told "you're going to be followed by a turkey, but he won't attack, he's my pet." I totally understand a pet, but the only turkey I had ever met was mean and ruthless, so I was not hopeful... Silly me, Thomas was freaking awesome.

At one point I knelt down to be eye level, and he serenaded me. Big and puffed up, circling me while shaking his feathers. His face was very, very blue which ther owner said was a sign of being happy. He said Thomas must really like me as he only acted like that for them. I kind of felt like a child at a petting zoo. Just reaching out and petting a 50lbs turkey was easily the height of my day.

Turkeys are like big feathered dogs. If you socialize with them they will happily become lappers.

How are you keeping them safe now that you know the fencing doesn’t work. I’d be sitting outside continually with the shot gun. Or maybe you are lol
I had to stand guard last night from raccoons... They have not been around in a long while. Last time I shot 2 in 1 night (after close to $1k in damages) and they stopped coming around. There's an awful lot of chirping now, and I love my birds, coons, not so much.

I was helping my neighbor move last night, and didn't get home till about 1 in the morning. When I did, there was two of them just sitting there next to the coop. I scared them away, and super fortified the ground to prevent digging. I didn't sleep all that well, I was constantly thinking/checking on the birdies... If my neighbor's has seen how many times I walked out the door with a gun in my hand, they probably would have called the cops. "HE'S GONE CRAZY!"

Being that I would rather save an animal than kill one (even a coon), I've decided to go ahead and turn my out building into a coop. It's 432 sq/ft, concrete floor, and where I tend to spend a lot of time already.

Oh oh oh! I'm inheriting a big ol' bird cage. Like 3' round and roughly 5' tall. I'm not a big cage fan, but at that size it'll make a great Serama coop.
