Not sure which was the father, but Hoover's hatchery, where they came from, says on their website they are Legbar x Welsummer. They also offer olive eggers from French Cuckoo Marans x Ameraucanas resulting in a more black colored bird.

I could be wrong, but aren't the wellies on the conservation list?

I just checked and didn't see them on the list.

OE's are pretty neat. I wanted to make some with the younger birds we have, but the Cuckoo Maran cockerel is not going to make it till breeding age. He's a mean little bugger so far. Hmm... If I do have a Wellie roo though... I need to stop with the "what if" day dreams. Anyone have a pair of blinders I could borrow?!

I was a good lad today. I didn't buy any new chicks. The only really young ones where RIR and CX. Strangely enough, I'm not a fan of the mature RIR look, but the little red chicks are just adorable. They did have GL Wyndotte pullets about the same age as what I have for only $5. That those took some restraint to pass up!
