And who has the right to even comment about how someone else wears their hair. Good for Xaiden. My son had long hair and it was blonde [Florida]we were from the hippie generation everyone we knew had long hair their kids too.

Good Morning Everyone!
Hope you all have a great Sat. we're in for some frigid weather over this next week. Good bye springtime, we knew it couldn't last right Bob?

I hope not to. Right now me and both of the boys have longer hair. I want them to understand what it represents. I would love for us all to be able to wear braids. Xaiden, my older son has been great about dealing with negative comments about long hair. He seems so much stronger than when I was his age. I was picked on relentlessly about my hair when I was young, and always wore it short because of it. Xaiden just flat out tells people "I love my hair and I'm not going to cut it." Makes me proud. :)
Wow, Xaiden has it right! I too was made fun of when I was young, "hey, pippy long stockings" among others...I didn't let it bother me that much...I just looked at it like they were ignorant of what it ment to a native to wear their hair long. The only time I have cut my hair has been when a family member has passed away. A sign of mourning, and Comanches only cut one side, yep, looks like a drunk barber got "ahold of ya" but if your a "traditional" that's what you do! ;)

I might have found a home for the turkey. My neighbors son just bought a new house on 10 acres about an hour away. If he decides he wants them I'll just let him have them. If he doesn't I'm harvesting them all regardless of size. I want them gone. We all make a bad decision from time to time. Getting those turkey was definitely a bad decision.
Thats awesome Chris hope it works out for you. Yep sometimes things just don't work out but you tried. Do you think the tom may have gotten hold of Ollie?

you’re thinking turkeys are a mistake, while you’re overrun with dux???

Might I suggest a few sessions of intensive counseling with Dr. Ralphie?

Love to hear your traditions @007Sean , when a loved one passes away do you cut one side short all the way to the scalp, or just a few inches off one side?
Really beautiful.

@Trimurtisan it's only considered a mistake if you do it repeatedly...the turkey was just a learning experience 😁 Now you can try your hand at some geese!! 🤭🥰

Morning friends!! Waiting around to see if we're getting any winter precipitation or not...doesn't sound like it will be much, just a glaze of ice. And...to make things even more fun today, my 8 yr old son Cullin has been battling a cold for a couple days, and at about 5am he woke me up complaining of his ear 😬 So...we may have to make a trip to Urgent Care today for an ear infection. Always something when you have kiddos...

I wish I was raised in a more traditional manner. I was brought up to respect and appreciate our heritage, but never really lived it. The older I get the more I am trying to be a part of it rather than just enjoying it from the sidelines. We don't have much Lakota blood in us anymore, but it's the part of my heritage I feel represent me most. I want my children to have a stronger appreciation than just going to a pow wow once a year.

I've been listening to a lot of Snotty Nose Res Kids, and they have a song titled Long Hair Don't Care. It's a bit vulgar so I'm not going to post it here, but I do play it for Xaiden. The chorus goes like... "Long hair long hair! Don't care don't care! If you feel a type of way about my Mena (spelling?) what we gonna say? Long hair don't care!"
"hair satay"....could you use that in a sentence, please! :gig
It's all hair satay my brother. ;)

Do you think the tom may have gotten hold of Ollie?
I do. The other boys where dominant over him, but I've only seen the chickens give him pecking order type of pecks. The Tom is becoming more aggressive daily. I don't even know if aggressive is the right term as he's not really mean, but he's trying to take the #1 spot, and that's just not going to happen.
