Speaking of frisky, Baby Charis (light brahma cockerel) just mounted and matted a turkey! It was the smallest turkey but still bigger than him. She was not happy. Sully came running to protect her and its like he noticed it was not his hen and he just turned around.

Baby charis has been getting passed up on ther pecking order recently. Even some of the pullets that are a bit younger than him are pecking at him. It didn't look like a sickness kind of thing, picking off the weak. He is a bit submissive, but he's still young too. I don't think he really understands how big he is. Sully has more muscle mass but Baby Charis has a larger frame already. He's only 6 months old.

Yay for hump day!

So i posted the wrong gif on this post before... Oops
Sorry.

Good Morning!
Anyone else have frisky birds already? Our crazy weather has everyone thinking it's early spring even my Muscovy. I am thinking hard on how I am going to split these hormonal boys up so no fighting. Or I can make a boxing ring and let them have a go at each other.
Nope. We're getting another snowstorm tomorrow... Though my boy has been hormonal all winter so nothing new.

I also have a broody hen, They're not fun to deal with...

I hate it when picking starts. But my hens will pick on a young rooster it's like until he figures out what and who he is they have the upper hand. Who is baby Charis any pics?
He is one of the two first Light Brahms. He was born 8/5/19.

The first two are his sister for a bit of size comparison.

He's not very filled in yet, but he is growing a big frame under those feathers. He's tall enough that if he mingles around the yard with the turkeys he just blends in.

Dino and I are both liking the crate for the brooder. The chicks don't seem as jumpy when I put my hand in. I've been sitting at the door daily and handing them. Dino joins me everytime and I bring out 3 chicks for him to get to know. He gets a sniff and lick in then I remind him "it's not for you" and he sits back down. The first chick today was not down with a sniff and lick.
