Greetings!
Was on the road this morning around 7 am, went to a no-hoof livestock sale. Came home with three rabbits, two ducks (a Welshie and a buff, both females), and seven bantam chickens! The chickens are my daughter's, btw, and we're splitting the ducks. She immediately took the Welshie, of course. Which is fine, I love the Buffs.

Got two splash Cochin hens, one Cochin/Silkie mix hen, and four (3 hens 1 roo) Old English Duckwing.

Now I can relax and have some tea before I figure out where the heck all of these are going!!!
Sounds like us, we said we wouldn’t get any ducks until we built them a house, but problem was how big you need to build the house if you don’t know how many you will get roflmbo. So in typical fashion we preceded to get some ducklings, then we had to figure out how to build them a house. Build a bigger house you say? Nope, we are not going to get anymore, until we got more, then it was, well we should have built a bigger house, guess it is time to build a bigger house. Now the house is too big, need more ducks…. I swear I never ends?! Congratulations on your new ones! We have been considering getting more already, and our youngest ones are not even 3 weeks old. In fact my brother finally had enough of us bringing new ducks home, and so he went and found some RIR pullets, and one he said they called a red broiler. Basically now indirectly we have some new chicks lol.

Good morning everyone, ducks getting them some rain here today and enjoying it, me not so much have projects that need done in the yard, ducklings want to go play, but they are not feathered yet so not letting them and they are protesting lol. Hopefully it clears up and I can get stuff done and they can get themselves some yard time. Still a great day!
How old are they? - If they're older than a week, they can and should get wet. As long as they have a place out of the rain to huddle together they will do fine with a shower or some light rain.

Happy Sunday everybody! - Enjoy every second of it!

I honestly would have gotten more, because my drake/duck ratio is really bad right now. At least for the non-Muscovy ducks. Currently, after giving away four drakes and getting these two hens, I stand at 4 drakes and 7 hens. I have five Welsh H eggs in the incubator, which are due to hatch in a week *fingers crossed*.

I have a white Muscovy drake being exchanged for some freezer roosters sometime this week. So, my Muscovy count will be at 27 I think after that. I might give away some of the ducklings I have, too.

Yeah they are 2 weeks 3 days since we got them. I was just more worried since the temps have dropped now that rain and then being young they would get chilled too much. Probably just worried for nothing. We do always give the babies swim times, and probably even younger than most would suggest.

Update: it warmed up so they are currently getting some pool time!

Good luck with the eggs, we have thought about getting an incubator ourselves. Definitely want to add some Muscovy to ours, just haven’t cause going to need a bigger brooder cause will be getting at least 6 so hopefully would get a half decent chance at a couple females. And like keep one male.

Have you ever heard of the Australian Emu Wars? The Emu won. I'm not joking.

I hit a deer a few months ago, but thankfully only caught her rump. She went tumbling head over heals then bolted into the bush. No damage to my car, either. We were both very lucky, and she was very stupid.
Oh yes! We've done indepth discussions on this thread about the war.

Good Morning and Evening.

I decided until more permanent housing can be constructed (because I'm an impulse buyer)) I would keep the little Duckwing Old English Game inside here. Well, little PeeWee Herman decided that having a big Wyandotte crowing outside was his signal to show him who was really the boss!

Did you know that they sound like they've inhaled helium?
