Maybe Hillbilly is sleeping through this weekend:idunno
Before answering the questions to my well-being in full detail - i am well and (in?)sane - i have to relay some bad news from Pinball Duck:

I found her sitting under one of the Autumn-Olive shrubs this afternoon and she had that sad and worried look in her face. Pinball is very worried that we are all might going to die this winter! She urges us to begin growing our feathers or fur, whatever you prefer, otherwise we will all end up as ice cubes because this winter will be very cold and long and dumping a lot of snow!!!
That's what she said to me this afternoon while sitting under an Autumn-Olive shrub.

Pinball and her sister PomPom have grown so much plumage already that they look like floating duck-slippers when they walk through the grass. You cannot see their legs and feet anymore. And all the other ducks are in the middle of their molt right now ("No, it hasn't snowed overnight, that's duck feathers!") and have also started to grow thick winter-coats.

So buy some extra jackets! Cut some extra cords of firewood! The winter will be bad, the ducks say so!

Btw: I saw one of the Mallards today trying out a scarf:

HillBilly's weekend report comes next...

WannaBeHillBilly's busy weekend status report

Apologies first, i wanted to send daily updates (aka. bragging about what i achieved) every day of the weekend, but was so exhausted that i literally fell asleep during dinner.

Let's start with Friday: After being nice the whole work-day to somebody whom i'd prefer to throw a brick at it was finally there: The weekend! I needed to vent somewhere, so i grabbed the wheelbarrow and hauled about 15 loads of wood-chips from the parking-lot in front of my garage around the house into the duck-yard, creating Mount Woodchip which was promptly conquered by an extra cheeky White Layer ducknager.
After that i drove to the Asian Supermarket and delivered 10 dozen duck eggs, then drove to the farm supply store and bought some food for the ducks. Finally a visit at the blue building-supply store where i secured six of the cheap landscaping timbers (only $6 for one 8' long post!).
Transporting the timber on the roof of the car, i made a big mistake with the pull-straps so since Friday evening i am deaf!
Had dinner and almost drowned in the soup…

Dang i hit CTRL+Return! - So continuing in a new post.

Saturday: I was working outside like a mule! First thing i had to do was unloading the car, so i used my trusted wheelbarrow to haul the duck-food from the garage, around the whole house into the storage bin:

Five bags of Layer-Pellets, two bags cracked-corn, a bag of BOSS for a price that would make the Russian Tsar cry…

The rest of the stuff i bought had to be carried up the hill to the garden, where three of the landscaping timbers joined six cinder-blocks to form a comfortable bench at the fire-pit:

You can see the old, now not any more comfortable bench in the back.

Then i hauled a mountain of hay down the mountain and started to press hay-bales:

You can see the five bales i was able to press in the background, and there is still to this day enough hay for another five bales on my work-platform:

During the breaks i took from hay-bale pressing, i started to haul duck-poop soaked wood-chips from the duck-run up to the garden area and started to build the great stinky mountain up there.

Darkness fell all too soon on Saturday and it was my turn with cooking and my stomach decided it was time for some belly warming stew:

Cherrywood Bacon fried with Perl-Onions and potatoes from my own garden, diced yellow squash and green peppers with Lima Beans (all grown here!) and then topped off with a pre-cooked mixture of five beans that they sell in large jars at the farm-store…

After eating a bowl i fell asleep at the table again…

Today started with a pleasant surprise: I overslept!

So i spent the rest of the day with increasing the height of Mount Stink:

I lost track, but it has been at least six wheelbarrows of poop-soaked wood-chips… The ducks love that mountain even more than Mount WoodChip because it is full of earthworms…
I decided to create a second compost-pile near the garden, instead of piling this up behind the duck-house together with the duck's bedding. I will need that compost in the garden anyways, so why not haul it up here now and let it decompose here? Still backbreaking work, everything is wet and so heavy that i can fill up the wheelbarrow only ½.

The ducknagers had a lot of fun at the pond, especially the cheeky White Layer who conquered Mount WoodChips yesterday:

Dang Duck! - That is my seat at the pond when i feed the Mallards and she pooped on it!

The only other thing, except for the regular duck-duty, i did today was digging out the remaining three pepper-plants from the garden and transplant them into pots:

I watched a video on YT where some guy did that to over-winter the plants in the house and planted them back outside the next year. Now i need to find a good spot for them in the house…

Well that was my weekend.

What did you do?
