It does bear fruit but I bought it for the pretty flowers the fruit are flat preaches and not really worth climbing up to get so the birds get them when they fall.
That is one of my dream scenarios: A nice, fenced in pasture with plenty of fruit trees and a flock of happy ducks waddling around enjoying everything that has fallen to the ground.

Flat peaches? - My mom used to can these for the winter, just blanche them in a light sugar syrup with a bit vitamin-c powder (to prevent any browning) and store them in a dark cool pantry.

Now that sounds like a plan. I love canned peaches.

We had another peach tree a cherry tree both got sick and died. And we have way too much shade to try and plant again. We do have a crab apple that my dad gave me years ago.
In my parent's garden we had two Morello cherry-trees. They both produced so much fruit that my dad had to build support struts for them that we used year after year after year.
I tried repeatedly to plant cherry-trees without success. Neighbors are telling me that here in the U.S.A. there is a fungus that kills cherry-trees and their relatives very quickly. Which is the reason why cherries and all cherry products are expensive. I have not given up on cherries yet, i will continue to try growing trees from cherry-pits and wasting money on store-bought trees until one day i will find a fungus resistant one.

We have a couple of cherry trees here. The sour cherry kind, they are very tasty!
