Houston we have a problem. Sunday is supposed to be hatch day. We went to lock down tonight and remove the turning rack and found three pipped . One rocked for about five minutes after we set it back in the incubator.
Look forward to seeing these littles.

Good Morning and Evening To Everyone!!

We're supposed to have rain so I went out last night and threw out a bunch of grass seed [outside of the flocks property] Learned the hard way grass and chickens don't mix but I want my goose to have grass anyway No rain Yet. Sure hope it comes now since I have 2 LF hens who will go over the fence and will probably start eating the grass seed. Always something!!

Yes, we had flood-warnings out, but received just a few drops of rain yesterday and over night. But a lot of wind gusts!

IF ya'll could build a chicken run again, what would be most important?
A large water basin! - Ah, wait, you said xicken-run… - What about a compost-mound for the birds to scratch through?
  • wire-mesh dug into the ground at least one foot deep
  • hardware-cloth at least two feet tall over the ground
  • tall enough to walk in
  • door wide enough for the wheelbarrow (or other equipment like mini-tractor)
  • sturdy structure with hooks to set-up a wind-break on the weather-side
  • at least partially roofed to prevent a mud-bath and provide shade
