Hello there, everyone.

Hope you're all having/had a nice Friday! I got permission to put up an ad/PSA about dumped ducklings in a big 'Lost N Found' pet group, so we'll see how well it's received. I made sure to throw a picture of these charming ladies in for good measure.

I seriously considered to give up on ducks Today (Saturday)…

Spoiler: Don't open if you don't want to read something sad. - Seriously!

Went through a couple of meltdowns during the last 48 hours:

• Friday afternoon i dug out Pinball Duck's grave, extra deep so that no trash-panda will be able to dig her up...
• Then went into the Duck-House and sat down for a while with my dead duck in my lap. She looked so peaceful:
  
  
• Discovered that she was actually preparing to be a Momma-Duck again: She had grown a thick coat of down-feathers on her chest (Momma Ducks do that to pad the nest)
• I built a little nest for her, so that she will lay comfortable and buried her:
  
  
• Friday evening her sister PomPom Duck did not eat. She went inside the duck-house and laid down where her sister had died.
• Saturday morning PomPom, Violeta and Tweedledee duck refused to come out of the house in the morning…
• Later in the afternoon i found Pompom Duck confused, standing in front of Pinball's nest from last year, calling for her sister and making momma duck sounds.
• Found out that Pinball has already started to rebuild last year's nest…
• This evening i offered meal-worms to PomPom Duck and she refused to eat them. I am really afraid i will loose her too.
• Except for Blanca and Erpelchen all of the Puddle-Ducks refused dinner tonight, just went into the duck-house and laid down in that corner:

*Extra Big Hugs* my friend. This is heartbreaking. They will work through their grief, as will you. This is part of life, too, and we must continue on and not give up. She wouldn't want you to. Her sibling and children need you. No one else can care for them like you. Remember her through them, and think of all the times she make you smile and laugh.

Sorry I've been quiet. Kinda of depressed over the loss of all my eggs. Out of 69, I only got three chicks. My incubator went haywire and cooked all the eggs in lockdown. Then froze them for good measure.

Returning the incubator (it was a week old!).

In other news, Luna the Magpie is still sitting on eggs in the Muscovy coop.

I'm worried there might be something else going on. Ducks do grieve but mine usually forget about it in a few hours certainly a day.
