Glad that drake avoided freezer camp for now!
Say, do you keep your geese and the ducks in the same house?
Yes I'm going to they are really interested in each other. The ducks are too big for the geese right now but their brooders are next to each other and they peer over peep.

Great Monday to Everybody!

Yes, we have a peeper here! :yesss::jumpy
I so wish i could send out at least one of blurry pictures that my DuckCam made, but my internet is still down and the mobile-network is too slow.
Need to go to duck-house and congratulate Momma Buffzilla Duck!
Five days later, they find Frank's body picked to the bones in the remnants of Buffzilla's nest.

We're offering calcium in layer feed (not very popular) and in crushed chickend eggshells (eaten nicely because they are finely ground and sprinkled over peas).

There are also more liquid poops but basically all of the ducks often leave quite firm poops such as the ones pictured - and they are in contact with water all day long, they drink, bathe, swim, they return to the basins constantly when foraging or eating from the grain / crumble plates. It's only overnight that they are left dry (about 9 pm - 6 am).

I think Junior might be improving somewhat in the sense that she seems more reactive to her enviroment, moves more decisively, eats more. But I feel like it's still touch and go. After all this is only her day #8 with us. I'll talk to the vet again tomorrow to report on the status and maybe get some more info and hitns.
My ducks hated their Layer Feed too, until i switched over to layer-pellets. Same ingredients but they seem to remind the ducks to little worms, so they prefer them.

So you can have a couple of geese living together with ducks?
I always wanted some guard-geese but was afraid i had to build an additional house for them.

I'd love a goose or two, but my daughter would skin me alive!

Maybe I can pretend I thought I was buying ducklings?

Better do lots of research before stepping into geese. I’ve had them since 2007 and it can be a joy and a pain. They have a long breeding season and during this time they can be awfully ornery. I had a goose house for mine my gander would have never been able to live in the coop with the ducks and chickens with out hurting someone.

That would be Violeta's doing then!

Actually Buffzilla has become really tame, she has moved her nest again, even more away from the window and she allowed me to hand her over three eggs that she had left in the old location. She only ate my little finger… 😜
She is really proud of the little one and encouraged it to climb on her back so she could show off! - DUCK! I need my internet connection back! I have some really nice videos and pictures and cannot upload anything!
The little one is entirely black with a yellow bib and belly.

Okay! - Thank you very much for the warning!
I will have some geese later, when i have moved forward a mile or so on my project-list…
Still my favorite goose breed are the cotton-patch geese…

No way! - Goslings are even cuter than ducklings!
But maybe that would be able to melt your daughter's heart? - Maybe she will only skin your back then? 🤣
