If you've got buff orps, you've got chocolate in your flock, so that's where she comes from. Also if her mom wasn't chocolate, she is definitely a she.

The black bibbed ducklings might be pure bread Black Swedish Ducks and the blue bibbed could be a Black/Blue Swedish? - They already look massive, their legs would make a T-Rex momma proud.
So, chocolate!? And you are right, that brown duckling is a she, i heart her quaxing yesterday afternoon. How did you figure that out?
I looove that color! - It really looks like chocolate! German chocolate, which has less cocoa than Hersheys for example.

I am happy to have her! - From these four she is the sweetest. She is friendly to little Buffzillitus, whereas the other three are more or less aggressive with the blue/gray one outright hostile towards the little one. Not sure what gender the other's are, but i heart at least one more quaxing. Maybe this afternoon…

Chocolate is sex-linked. Since females can show it with only one gene, but males need two, then a male can carry it without showing and pass it on to his daughters.

So the conclusion is that because i don't have any chocolate coloured duck, it must be a female because she can only have inherited one gene from the parents?
I also have a Buff Orpington drake (Erpelchen): If he had fertilized an egg in a Buff Orpington duck there could have been two copies of the chocolate gene in the result…

I hated genetics at school!
But the brown one is definitely a duck!
