How's the duckling?

Well, the limping duck bathes in the morning, rests in the crate over the day, bathes in the evening, walks around a bit with the others with very few problems, goes beautifully through the entire orchard to the house and.... in the morning is limping heavily again. This is the second night with this kind of experience. So I think an overnight crate inside the house is in order.

@WannaBeHillBilly sometimes we just like boiled eggs - for example as something to add variety to a salad. Peeling boiled eggs is a pain generally but with soft-shelled ones it's super easy. So instead of being a bit problematic they become a benefit.

I eat a boiled duck-egg almost every morning!
They have a saying here: »A Duck-Egg a Day keeps the Doctor away!«
So far that worked well.

And rarely it is difficult to peel the eggs. I let the egg sit for at least a week, boil them with an egg-boiler (these little plastic thingys that use steam to boil the eggs) and the dump them into ice water. That separates the cooked egg from the membrane and makes peeling easy.

That sounds like there is some duck on duck action going on during the night. - Which might be the cause for the limp in the first place. If you don't have a drake, one of the ducks will become so dominant that she will use the other's as pool-floats. Unfortunately even outside of the pool…

Ducklings are sweet, adorable, cuddly, enjoyable, funny, … i'm running out of adjectives here! - But: They are also well known as "Weapons of mass poopification"! I have a total of ten ducklings running around here, the eleventh has just hatched over night and number twelve has internally pipped.
The upcoming issue is, that all these ducklings have hatched during a period of the last three weeks:

2023-07-03 First duckling hatched (yellow one)​

2023-07-04 Two ducklings hatched, gray​

2023-07-07 Two ducklings hatched​

2023-07-14 Yellow duckling hatched​

2023-07-15 Two ducklings hatched, one yellow one gray​

2023-07-16 Yellow/gray duckling hatched​

2023-07-17 Dark gray duckling hatched​

2023-07-20 Yellow duckling hatched​

2023-07-21 ? duckling hatched (has only pipped internally now)​

Meaning, i have now the first duckling starting to quax, feather out and be ready to join the flock while the youngest are just a couple of days old, unable to survive being fully outside. Now i have to keep an almost fully grown duck inside of my office overnight, because everybody is really attached to everybody else, i cannot separate the little ones from the ducknagers, we tried and it ended with an overnight jail-break and a in the kitchen.

I need a solution that does not involve buying family-sized puppy-pads and wet-wipes every three days…
