Admit it: You're jealous! While you're being cooked slowly, @Canadian Wind can enjoy the crisp temperatures… 😉
Actually more like drowning here. Not from rain, from the humidity! I will take the high 45+ degrees dry heat any day over these 34degree 90% humidity days. Humiditys for the coast, we've ment to get dry heat here in outback

The dux are still insisting to stay on their pond, despite the crazy wind we had overnight. Once the wind here shifted to the west it really picked up speed. Had the pond been frozen over last night the surface would have been sloped…
So far no power outage, but no landline, cable-TV and internet - a couple of telephone-line poles snapped clean off. We got new poles for the power-lines this summer, because the grid was upgraded from one to three phases, so no power outage.
Now the wind has died down and the temperatures are dropping fast, already at the freezing mark. The dux had a warm soup this evening and even though some of the runners looked wistfully at the dux-house before hesitatingly waddling uphill back to the pond. They will crack, latest after Sunday when the day-time temperatures stay below freezing...
Today our high was 11 degrees F. Frank are they still on the pond? I figured since we are the next state over your temps might be similar. I hope if your temps are like ours they have gotten off of it by now.

Kia Rio. A completely impractical vehicle for this area. I need a tank.
It really looked like VW beetle with that snow cover. One of my uncles had one of these in the 70's. Tanks are impractical in cold weather too, they lack interior heating systems and use too much fuel…
Love the Kia Rio, its a nice sized common-sense car. I had a Suzuki Forenza before i got the Outback and i would have opted for a small car again, but i need something that is able to tow more than a ton and has all-wheel drive to deal with my crappy driveway...

Frank it was a high of 11 degrees here in Ohio, did your pond get frozen and are the ducks okay????

Coco was bathing in it!!! Then again, they haven't had access to more than a small shallow tub of water for a while since I can't use the hose and I'm not filling a kiddy pool with buckets.

All the Muscovy were smart and got out of the wind and went inside the coop. The 'regular' ducks were all outside and had to be herded in.

I gather you leave the door open to their palace?
Yes, the door to the duck-run is open and the pellet dispenser is kept full, just in case the dux re-discover their common-sense. This noon was crazy, they ran down from the pond and in the middle their feet got cold, so they sat down and started to slide downhill, bobbing over the bumps in the snow covered grass. 🤣
And they really hesitated to go back up, but in the end they did. I need to get dressed and climb up there to evaluate the situation...
