We're now sowing peas with ducks being present at the property for the first time. When I think of it that way it sounds kinda problematic... I think there is still some 2 ft wire fence lying around somewhere...
Usually here a 30cm (1') tall fence keeps the dux out, except when there are Pepper or Tomato plants behind that fence. In that case the fence must be 1 Kilometer tall and half of it must be buried into the ground. And the mesh must not be too wide as a duck's neck can instantly be extended to about 10 meters (30').
Yes, 60cm should be tall enough. Theoretically they can flap over it, but practically they are too lazy to do so.

So I'm going out for a morning walk with the young dog, through the inner orchard, through the outer orchard, through the large-scale-veggies part and we're out of the last fence line, walking along the field.

And then, oh, hello ducks! Wait, what?

We herd them back toward the fence, thankfully the little doggie ball of energy is behaving well... And we see them squeeze through. Yikes!

So we herd them back into the inner orchard where there's a fine mesh fence that they definitely can't squeeze through. And 10 minutes later there are again 2 ducks missing.

They are in the greenhouse (the one with yesterday's harassed lettuce). The doors of which are closed. But there is a certain space below the front door that one could, if one were so inclined and a duck, possibly squeeze through, given the motivation and the familiarity with the idea of squeezing through things.

As I write there is one atop a brush pile about 5 ft high. Hopefully she won't go broody there haha.

This is shaping up to be an interesting year.
Squeezing through? - Tell me about it!
Under the garden-door a piece of railway-tie is buried in the ground. Without that the dux were drilling holes whenever it was raining, connecting more and more holes, liquefying more and more of the loam until they could squeeze through and raid the tomatoes.
This year the Swedish ducks discovered that there was a piece of chicken-wire that wasn't anchored to the ground and being on the stronger side of duxness they just squeezed through under that fence. Until one day i was herding them back from the pond into the fenced-in area, where they made a left turn and immediately escaped again. Now there's a log at the bottom of the fence.
Still one of the blue Swedish Ladies manages to get out and to the pond.

@Supercow I think you are now realizing that a 2 foot fence is NOT going to be enough to keep the rascals out of your peas! :lau
My experience is that even one foot is enough to keep them out of something. - Not keeping them in, but out a foot is enough.
The fence that i use to keep them away from the pond is just a two feet xickenwire with some 4' fiberglass rods fiddled through the mesh and pushed into the ground is enough. And believe me, the pond is a strong motivation...
