Yes. Small village with houses close to each other (land parcels are long but narrow) two miles out of a small town (15 K people).
How do your neighbours feel about the quackining? The opportunitity to purchase a beautiful house in a village has presented itself, it would be leased out for now but it would eventually be my "empty nester".

Well, it's all relative.

Neighbor on one side had cows/pigs until recently so that one is fine.

Neighbor on the other side is trying to have a football lawn in the backyard, a landscaped front yard, and is currently the mayor of the nearby town.

However, the next neighbor over, on the other side of the landscaped football one, has 100 chickens :) so if they can live with that they can handle some ducks.

I do ask. And I apologize for all the screaming caused by serial rapist drakes. And I bring eggs and honey and tomato plants and general garden advice. So far so good.

It fully depends on the particular situation.

Also on the things you just don't know about yet -- what you will consider a complete life later on (since you described this as a possible postponed home).
